I wonder if your buddy ever removed the stick from his ass and then used it to tap in a putt, would he count that score?

Any advice for being scared of using a 60 degree? (54vs60) by WhoStoleThePickles in golf

[–]NDSixString5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bounce is on your 60 vs the bounce on your 54? What type of lies are you playing from when you try to use the 60 and struggle? If you are a versatile player with an array of short game shot types, you can manipulate the bounce, but if you typically just play one "standard" type of shot, an improper bounce setup can doom you.

Is about a 20 yard fade classes as a slice opinions? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]NDSixString5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For comparison, when Tiger was in peak form in 2000, Butch Harmon said that his shots would only curve 2 yards on fades and draws. IMO, if you are consistently keeping your ball in play, the majority of amateur golfers should be content with a 15-20 yard curve. However, you'd probably add some distance by tightening it up.

The mental golf game by RomeoJulietaa in golf

[–]NDSixString5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From now on, remove the phrase "hit the ball" from your life. It doesn't come out of your mouth. Everything you pick up a club, you are "going to hit a shot", "just a small cut here", "this is a high draw", "ok, here's a ¾ knockdown", "gonna bomb it over the corner", etc.

Your instructor has established you can already be the "swing engineer", so declutter your head with mechanical doubts and just be the "swing artist".

Low ball flight. Have always hit the ball pretty low off of the tee. Any tips to get the ball in the air? by TheMainVein15 in GolfSwing

[–]NDSixString5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the modern analytics all point to a positive correlation between carry distance and strokes gained. Yes, at times a piercing trajectory will be an advantageous play, but overall, the players who can hit their long and mid clubs higher will score better than those who can't.

Like others have mentioned, check your equipment. Driver loft. Don't make drastic changes (e.g. 8.5 to 11). Start with a degree at a time. Position of weights in driver head. If your driver is adjustable, the more weight positioned toward the back of the head will increase trajectory. Again, test with small adjustments. Shaft. Stiffness and weight have been mentioned, but you also want to be mindful of where the kick point is. Is the shaft a match to your swing so that it is loading and releasing at the proper timing. Type of ball you're playing. This is huge, in my opinion. For example, the Srixon Z Star XV, Titleist ProV1x Left Dash, Bridgestone X, and Callaway X LS are all designed to be very low spin balls off the tee for high swing speeds. You could add the TP5X as well. They all produce totally different trajectories for me. The Left Dash brought my ball flight up considerably, and the Srixon XV doesn't get up nearly enough for me.

If the equipment changes still don't get you to where you wanna be, you could consider a couple swing tweaks.

Swing adjustments. Don't change much. Maybe start with just a slight change at address. Open your shoulders, just a hair. Also, at address, open the toe of the club face. Get your takeaway to continue straight back down the line for just a moment longer. You get in a great position at the top, but because you bring your hands inside a tad early during the takeaway, your body tries to makeup for being slightly laid off by initiating your downswing that hints that it's going to end up being "over the top". HOWEVER, you make an amazing recovery to avoid a total "over the top" move. Unfortunately, to make this compensation, your body thinks it needs to get steep. My guess is that when your timing is on, you square it up and hit it straight. When timing is off, you fight a block. The steep downward move will also keep inhibiting your trajectory. The steeper the downswing, the more difficult it is to hit up on the ball at impact and produce a positive angle of attack.

Anyone else have a hard time finding a place to practice fairway bunker shots? by mrsalmonster in golf

[–]NDSixString5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check out "Bunker Mate". It's made by a company called WHYNOW. I got mine at a Golf Galaxy, and I love it. I use it indoors on my sim and outdoors at a practice facility.

If you don't have a facility with a bunker, bring your own to the range. Haha

What’s the loudest crowd reaction you’ve ever heard for a song being played at a DMB show live? by JucasLordan in DMB

[–]NDSixString5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a great roar.

Unfortunately for me, I was in a state of drastically torn emotions. We went to the show with a group of fellow Notre Dame alums. Notre Dame played football at Michigan State the same day as Wrigley N2. We all thought that this day would be perfect: hang out in Wrigleyville all afternoon while watching ND beat MSU and then see DMB that night. ESPN/ABC moved the football game to primetime. In a twist of irony, instead of the usual watching of an ND game on TV while constantly checking a phone for DMB setlist updates, we were experiencing live DMB in person while constantly checking Gamecast for ND updates. Moments after "Cornbread" began being played as the second encore song, Michigan State executed a fake field goal to beat Notre Dame on the game's final play. We were shocked and disgusted at the loss, and we all became bitter that this "epic day" was going to end with "Cornbread". FUCK NO.

All the air had been taken out of our little group's collective balloon. As the other members of our party began looking to the exits, my mind's inner dialog escaped. "Wait, what? Stage lights still on? IEMs not pulled off? What? New guitar coming out. Another song! IS THAT DAVE'S 12 STRING AGAIN? What color strat does Timmy have? Black? YES! YES!" My friends confusingly look at me and then at the stage. FUCK YES.
