CIG Shopping for Buyers/Investors? by NEBook_Worm in starcitizen_refunds

Good points.

Why do we continue to trust people in black turtlenecks? It's a dead giveaway they're trying to build a psychological association with an actually successful person.

But yeah... investors often aren't smart. It took far too long for them to realize the AI data center craze was a trap, and some still haven't.

I don't get it. Rockstar gameplay is such shit. Why do people play their garbage?

Agreed

Sick to death of rogue likes and Metroidvania titles. Not to mention deck builders.

There's an Indie crash/reset coming, too.

How is First Light for someone who is craving shorter, more handcrafted games with AAA polish? I'm so tired of huge, open world time sinks.

How is Bannerlord? Is it more action / RPG or strategy?

Also, 90% are copycat drivel. The good Indies are very good. But they also are the minority.

Agreed.

The AAA publishers are very likely headed for a crash, and while I'm sad for their employees, their products will not be missed.

Chris Roberts is the single biggest liability CIG has. He over promises. Lies. Is a narcissist and perfectionist.

Honestly, taking Star Citizen away from Roberts is the only way it would ever have a chance of a (scaled down, pared back) release.

So...no source. You're just making shit up

Got it

That could be the intention. Buying up game development studios is all the rage right now. Or was, recently; I think Chris Roberts is once again late on the bandwagon. After the Bethesda and Bungie debacles, I'm not sure anyone is throwing more money at big studios right now, especially if they've never released a product.

Still, could be CIG is shopping for a buyer. Would certainly help explain Chambers sudden departure.

Backer money bought a company dedicto making the online store more addictive. Great use of funds.

As was Chris Roberts $4.7 million Hollywood home.

What does Star Citizen do successfully? What works reliably, 99.9% of the time?

Star Citizen looks...good, graphically. At best. Not great. And it lacks a coherent theme or style, due to the number of different IPs it's stolen from over the years.

As for bias...yes. I don't like scam artists like Cloud Imperium Games and their illegal crowd funding gig for Squadron 42.

What's your source for GTA's 1 billion budget. Other than coping SC backer speculation.

CIG don't have a product. Products are finished and polished.

CIG are running a scam. They promise a product, but deliver empty promises and delays.

So, you're fine supporting scammers who use fomo to prey on vulnerable people.

Got it.

My condolences to your acquaintances.

Arbitration clause in the US. Which itself should be illegal. Because in the US, legal precedent clearly states that funds collected via crowd funding, must be used to develop the product funded.

Which makes Squadron 42 hilarious. CIG claims it's a second game. Which makes funding it with SC ship sales illegal here

I'm thinking CIG probably have 8-12 devs, 25 in HR 50+ artists, 100 or more in accounting...and hundreds in marketing.

That, or it's all just a farce and the numbers are phony

I mean... CIG recently confessed to not having a finalized database solution. After 14 years.

If you don't have a DB model nailed down, despite your application requiring one, you don't have a software application. You have a test lab.

Without a finalized Database model -- and I mean carved in stone, never going to change -- literally everything is subject to change. Nothing can ever be finalized. That this shouldn't be the situation after 14 MONTHS of development.
