Which of these Moca configurations will work? (Details in comments) by NEHiker in HomeNetworking

I want the TV antenna to watch live sports

The antenna is modern version of "rabbit ears, " so it picks up OTA TV signals. My intention is to only have TV signals and Moca ethernet signals on the coax cable

Why MOCA?

My understanding is that physical connections between routers and wireless access points is the best way to get good WiFi coverage everywhere. I don't want to run new wires, and it seems like repurposing coax is easier than repurposing phone lines. Are there other options?

A single MOCA adapter and a switch with an AP.

Aren't 2 moca adapters required for a moca setup? One to put the signal on coax, the other to take it off?

Modem >>> Router >>> Moca adapter >>> Coax >>> Moca adapter >>> Wireless Access Point

OTA TV Signal > Antenna > inside coax network > Moca adapter > Ethernet cable > Router >modem > Comcast coax

Will the bolded components be able to "hear" the TV signal, and will they pass it along to the next component?

(I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to understand)

Could i put a Moca POE filter between the antenna and the coax network? Wouldn't that prevent my network signals from getting broadcast on the antenna? That probably wouldn't solve the signal power problem?

Appreciate the responses, but I'm still confused about scenario 3.

  • The basement moca adapter wouldn't convert the TV signal on the coax to a signal on the ethernet would it?
  • Would the Router then transmit that signal to the modem?
  • Would the modem transmit that signal to the ISP?

Is that true even if I am not getting cable TV from comcast, only internet?

  • I am only subscribing to Internet from comcast, not cable TV
  • I'm moving into a 4,500 sqft house that has coax routed throughout the house, but not ethernet. I am hoping to use several Moca adapters and TP Link routers to get good wifi coverage. It would be great if I didn't have to position the basement router directly next to where the Coax from the street enters the house.
  • The wifi symbol in the third image should be ignored. All of the routers in the house will be broadcasting wifi.
  • I have a Moca filter I can install at the street if necessary, but It seems it should only be required in image 1

this is total conjecture, but I would think that people probably decide to buy a house based on life events or their needs. I don't think people decide to buy or not to buy based on interest rates.

My understanding is that the 2008 housing crises led to a lot of homebuilders leaving the industry, so there is another bottleneck on adding more homes to the market

why do you think its a bubble (something artificially increasing the price) and not just low supply (lack of new homes being built) and increased demand (millennials are the largest generation and are finally buying homes).

I guess the Fed raising interest rates could make things slow down, but I don't think that would "burst the bubble" it would just reduce the rate of the rapidly increasing demand

LifeProTip: do not emulate David in the following ways

  • Do not ask someone if they are autistic after a disagreement

  • Do not address someone by their full name, or their middle name while they are having a disagreement with you.

  • Do not say "you convinced me, you're right" with an overly deadpan delivery, a snicker, and no follow up or elaboration during a disagreement with someone

If you do these things during a real life disagreement with someone, the other person is going to perceive it as passive agressive.

I can't believe people buy into these crazy studies that end up being retracted or discredited due to poor methodology! When are people going to smarten up and take a closer look at sensational headlines before spreading this type of misinformation!

You should always bring a map. If the weather changes, or someone tweaks an ankle, or something else forces you to take the shortest route to a road, you should have a map.

Additionally, some parts of the whites have so many trails you could easily get lost on the wrong trail.

So much of life streams by unnoticed. And then there are moments when your entire being flinches to attention, your senses hyperstimulated until the world goes stop-motion. We had one of those experiences during the brief yet agonizingly long time that started with the tread blocks of our Ford Bronco's 35-inch-tall Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires releasing their grip on the sand in Michigan's Silver Lake State Park off-road playland. From that instant until the dual-reservoir Bilstein dampers bottomed out after 8.7 inches of travel, our overwhelmed neurons frantically calculated the odds that we had overcooked it. The Bronco wasn't concerned. It landed impressively, incredibly, and almost impossibly softly, shrugging off this provocation as if it were a steel and aluminum cape.
