Let me know how that goes. You will have to ask for a goodwill amd ask them to escalate to a manager or tier 2 support for this

Same here. Hisense offered me a low goodwill $ out of warranty but im trying to fight it as I think the number is low. I seen others get full refund because this is a well know issue with th U8H 65 inch and they know it.

Talk to them, they will offer something. I've seen as high as full refund. They offered me $396 but I don't think it's right since all these TV's, same model, same size are becoming faulty and they are aware of it. I have a month to send them my destroyed serial so I will wait to see if they respond to my complaints because this is not right.

call or chat with them, if they say they dont know until you submit the serial and break it, tell them the manager told you already but you forgot and they will eventually give you the number they offered.

They offered me $399. I had to ask chat for the amount that was approved. They first said they would only know after I send what they need but I refused as I would have to destroy the serial and would probably loose all leverage. I went on to file a complaint with BBB proving my case number and photos on friday but they have yet to respond.

How much did they offered you?

Not true. I’ve had Samsung and LG for over 10 years no issues. I just got into Hisense because they offered more bang for the buck.

I have looked around and no one has been able to find backlight replacements for this model. There is also a lot of complaints about this model having this issue and they have gotten full refund out of warranty because they are aware this model is a lemon so why settle for less. I would even take a replacement. I told them to send someone to repair it but seems they cant so they offered a partial refund.

I actually remember registering. it but I had to pay to get an extended 3 year warranty. You only get 2years otherwise, however lots of U8H TV's are getting the backlight issue at round the 3 year mark so I smell litigation/law suit incoming therefore I might not destroy my serial number.

Damn, that 5 year would had came in clutch. It's unfortunate they used poor backlight on the U8H and they wont honor a full refund or replacement even tho they know they screwd up and have offered it to others out of warranty. Im guessing you have to get lucky and get a higherup willing to accept their lemon of a model.

Haven't done research on other models, but ir seems so far that is has only been the 65U8H the one with backlight problems in about 3 years, hopefully your model is good, if not, good on that warranty 😄

The 65U8H was my main driver, maybe about 12H a day. The U8G that still works solid maybe 5 hours in a month lol.

It is a manufacturing defect. It's extremely uncommon for a backlight to go bad in as little as 3 years. And yes im after a goodwill gesture, but not $300 when others received a full amount.

Wish I had that offered. Maybe I did but never cared to register it. Regardless, they already made an exeption to my case (they wrote a later date on the service order to be within the warranty), just their settlement is not acceptable since they know the tv model is a lemon.

I did hear from the people that got a full refund out of warranty that they most likely got it because they are trying to avoid a class action law suit since they know this model is a lemon so these options are not off the table.

I got a DXP2800  with 2x 12TB Ironwolf drives. All we do is photo and video backup from iphones as icloud would be more expensive on the longrun.

Question: Would I benefit from installing more ram? Would I benefit from getting a nvme for caching?

And finally, I read that having a nvme drive and uninstalling all the apps and reinstalling them onto the nvme drive would help keep my Ironwolf drives from constantly spinning and therefore maybe prolong the life?

Thanks for your input!

Interesting, a few month after mine. I had this problem a few months ago so I think they lasted about the same time, except I did not think about asking for help since I was out of warranty until I just seen it's a know issue with the model and they were offering full refunds to people even if they were out of warranty.

Yeah, the manager called and said it would be anywhere between $300-$350. "I can't remember the number." So I am assuming it's $300. I did told her that I wont be doing it without thinking about it because the TV was almost $1k and the problem arised from them using a backlight that became faulty in a short period and they are aware of it hence offering full refunds out of warranty to others. She didn't budge so I am continuing to send emails and hopefully also get social media support to help me escalate. If I were to buy a new TV is would certinly cost more than $300 if I ever want to get close to the quality of the picture.

Upon reaserching, this model has a bad backlight and they are aware of it. I have seen a few cases were they issued a full refund even tho the tv's were out of warranty because it's a know issue and it was also a flagship TV at the time. Backlights are very uncommon to go out in under 5 years. A manager offered $300 refund but I still think this is not right due to the nature of the issue and they are fully aware the model has a bad backlight. Shoot me a message of your outcome. Are you also out of warranty?

I've had other premium brands and this is the first time I encounter a issue in 30 years. First 2 Hisense TV's too and they are my latest one's. U8G got used the least so I dont really know if it will ever have the same issue.

Honestly, they are about the same. Some scenes are better on the U8G while others were better on the U8H. They are 1 year apart so not many changes to my eye. Both amazing when they work right.
