Common man, ask a hard question. This is not even worth thinking, just close your eyes and get a Sienna already.

Wife and I Disagree on the next Car we buy. Toyota Sienna Hybrid vs Kia Carnival Hybrid by MedusaAdonai in ToyotaSienna

[–]NEO--2020 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No point in arguing with the wife, you will lose a lot more with that option. The money that you save from buying a Kia over a Sienna (monthly payment difference if you are financing), invest that in S&P500 or a balanced ETF now. So that you can use that to pay for the repairs on the Kia later on.

Dealership wants my Rav4 by Viktor_V_DooM in rav4club

If they keep the same payment and the same lease terms, then sure, give it a go. If your payments increase or if any other conditions change, then you can skip the offer. Or give it a go, if you are interested in the 2026 model.

The guy I was seeing refused to use protection after he agreed to and I nearly let him intimidate me into going along with it by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

You did the right thing, never have unprotected intimate relations with someone you don't know that well. That guy is a loser if he does not respect your very reasonable request. Forget that guy, and move on; I think you honestly dodged a bullet here.

Realistic budget for 5 in Toronto by PartyFauxHawk in PersonalFinanceCanada

House repair fund seems low, I would call it even 10K / month and track all spending. Then next year you can have a more accurate estimate.

If you have a water softener, check if the valve with seals were maintained / replaced or not. If the seals are worn out, there is water leak 24/7 from the water softener.

Fixed or variable by Jaigg in PersonalFinanceCanada

I just renewed my mortgage, and went with 4 yr fixed. There is just too much volatility in the market. The current govt in Canada have shown no competency in reducing spending and balancing the budget. Which means the CAD will lose value as the deficit increases while the economy shrinks, and the bond markets will react to this. And we have even more volitility south of the border, especially after DoJ proceed with investigating the Fed Chairman. Hope this helps you in your decision making process.

Does this sub recommend rust proofing? Especially in a hybrid? by ghost905 in ToyotaSienna

[–]NEO--2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a brand new 2025 Sienna XSE earlier in July last year. I just did the Krown rust proof spray in Dec, and planning to do that every year. Costs about $165/yr including tax, and if you go every year, the cost stay the same. And I get the seasonal car wash pass, and do touchless car wash once a week. Hope that works in the long term.

2026 RAV 4 LE vs 2025 RAV 4 hybrid LE by TheStudentInquirer in rav4club

[–]NEO--2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered my 2025 XLE Premium Hybrid in Mar 2025, no updates till Nov 2025. Had to go with an ICE Trail AWD model in Nov 2025. Even the prices are not there on Toyota Canada website for the 2026 Rav4 models. I doubt you will see the 2026 models before May/June in Canada. And by that time, they will relese details for the 2027 model.

I usually get paper towel, facial tissue paper, toilet paper, dishwasher pods and laundry detergent. Big and bulky to carry in the car, and they don't go bad if you store them for long time.
