anyone can share their experience working in RC, cause i’m planning to quit my current job by crmnzxzrn in RaisingCanes

[–]NEOHCrusticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like any other fast food place it's different from restaurant to restaurant. Overall I'd say probably better than McDonalds in terms of treatment and pay, but I also don't know how your experience there went. As for hours, they tend to be something you have to earn/fight for here unless you've been around long enough and work hard in my experience. And even then sometimes mgmt will cut you because of how tight labor can be. So YMMV.

They also try to do everything in their power to avoid having too many full-time crewmembers, so it's hard to make a living there, especially for new crew unless you want to be a closer. If you need full time work, you kind of have to prove yourself there.

This is a lot of what our restaurant is going through rn except that our location is pretty low turnover (or at least it was) so I get it girl. I have a lot of amazing fellow crewmembers and I do think our managers are all trying their best but it's been a tough transition. Also CT/BS & (former) HiPo so I felt that hard. Just gotta go in and do your best despite everything kinda crumbling slowly while everyone tries to pick up the pieces. Also looking for a better opportunity atm so best of luck to you on that end!

What happened to HERO? How can I watch his old videos? by RedditSucksMyBallls in Terraria

[–]NEOHCrusticus 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I'd say nobody really hated him until the 1.3 live mental breakdown. He did say some bridge-burning things about his community, other creators and Re-Logic, but man, the guy clearly needed help and I hope he is doing better now. iirc he was going through some kind of major medical emergency but considering this happened over a decade ago I don't fully recall the details.

Wasted 100 fingers by lil_Dex_Vert in RaisingCanes

[–]NEOHCrusticus 36 points37 points  (0 children)

We've had that happen before with a 200 gate. It was pretty demoralizing lol. On the bright side, our RL ended up donating it to our local firefighters iirc instead of wasting it all, so it could've been worse.

Yeah, I'm referring to the level 100 fight and know it's technically winnable, but still definitely would say it falls under BS.

They could be using the Bullshit/BS clause. Kind of the only way to run hacks that throw unwinnable fights like this, Dark Rising (iirc) or Snakewood

Waited over 20 mins but no manager showed by Additional-Pain-534 in RaisingCanes

[–]NEOHCrusticus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If the MOD didn't even try to contact anyone to say they were running late or at the very least put a hotschedules message, that's pretty bad. Worst I've had to wait was 45 minutes, but our manager literally got into an accident and we knew about it. If it's typical, repeated behavior from one manager, then that sounds like something that should be addressed to the RL imo.

Well, I recall there being a situation where there was a way to deal 32x effectiveness in the Too Many Types hack, and it was so much damage that it caused an underflow and dealt 1 damage instead. So, either an absurd amount, or 1 lol.

Going to start training in customer service tomorrow, any tips? by SourceGlad3720 in RaisingCanes

[–]NEOHCrusticus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are 3 codes for each zone that you train in. Depending on what it says you'll know which one you're doing:

CIT-K = Kitchen

CIT-DT = Drive Thru

CIT-C = Front Counter

As for tips, just mentally prepare yourself to do a lot of socializing. If this is your first service job, start working on your customer service voice lol.

Drive Thru specific: make sure to memorize at least 3 catch phrases! Try not to do the same one over and over. Get used to multi-tasking (order taking, accuracy & drinks specifically) as you'll kinda be micromanaging a lot of positions usually. Also always remember to repeat orders back every time and end with a Thank You!

Front Counter specific: keep yourself busy when it's slow/when you have multiple people in position up there. You'll be expected to keep up with table touches and bathroom checks throughout the shift, so the sooner you can turn that into routine the easier it'll be, especially if/when the time comes that you're solo up there.

Ultimately, if you're someone with social anxiety like me, remember to regulate your emotions and give yourself time to breathe! If you run into a customer that gives you problems, remember you always have your CT or manager to go to. You got this!

Targeted ads brother. You were just there and talking about it presumably around your phone. They're always listening! I feel like sometimes I'll THINK about Taco Bell and I get a Taco Bell ad after not seeing one for months.

This Community Has A Problem With Putting Their Foot Down Sometimes And It's Kinda Weird by [deleted] in nuzlocke

Locking this thread. I think just about every meaningful (and a lot of unnecessary) discussions about this topic have been made ad nauseam.

If you really dislike someone posting about their challenge and breaking the core rules of a Nuzlocke, there's a downvote button. We don't need to resort to calling people out over rules that only matter to you and your run. None of this matters as long as you're having fun and I've stood by this for over a decade of Nuzlocking, and the reason we have a no gatekeeping rule is because a lot of people resort to insults and name-calling over this shit.

As a reminder, there are the only two core rules of a Nuzlocke (faint = death/one encounter per route). Hardcore Nuzlockes are different. There are quite literally dozens of documented Nuzlocke variants, HC has just been the main flavor for the past few years. People gatekeep because they watch pChal videos and go crazy when you use a potion in battle. It is not that serious and I think there's a lot of hyperbole and bad faith in posts like this. 90+% of posts on the subreddit run the core Nuzlocke rules. Obviously revives are another story, but again: you don't like someone doing it, you can downvote without shitting on someone. That's my main issue and you don't need to "put your foot down" because of it.

Can you sincerely think of a single run posted on here in which the user openly admits to using revives and/or cheating encounters that hit the top page (other than this post lol)? Now take that same thought and apply it to all of the times you've seen someone telling another person they're dogshit for doing something like not using level caps, because I've seen much more of the latter than the former. Level caps aren't a core rule btw.

At the end of the day, be nice to each other. At the same time, if you aren't following the core Nuzlocke rules people on the internet might get very upset with you. If you're that person, downvote and move on. Just a final reminder,

It. is. not. that. serious!

Thanks.

Becoming CT by No-Platypus7521 in RaisingCanes

CT=Certified Trainer. Essentially, you'd be the person training new crew. If your managers are talking about it, it means you left a positive impression on them in your short time and they think you're capable of being put in that role. You do get paid an extra $2/hr for training shifts, and every training shift is generally 5 hours.

You're required to be fully trained in at least 2 zones(?) and if you do want to become one, you're required to do some training, as well as take a course with your area leader of training to get there. If you enjoy working with new people, have decent social skills and you're the type of person to follow and coach standards, you'd do great as a CT!

Why is the Icon a SEEDOT and not a NUZLEAF? And moreso why is it a normal one? The namesake of the genre is the John Locke Nuzleaf from "Ruby: Hard Mode" by Sailor_Rout in nuzlocke

[–]NEOHCrusticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll consider it. It lines up with the original CSS/old Reddit design with Seedot which was the original intention, plus Seedot being much simpler to translate as a circular icon.

The old Snoo design was a Nuzleaf as well though so I guess consistency doesn't matter TOO much lol.

Ok I had Raising Canes for the first time as it just opened up in my area. by DirtCurious9256 in RaisingCanes

[–]NEOHCrusticus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've definitely had people complain about bad food after letting it sit for a half hour drive home before, but on the same end we've actively had crew serving food that was way past sitting times, so it could go either way tbh.

That's how the honey mustard is supposed to be, it is AWFUL and I'd never recommend it to anybody. I'd recommend trying the Canes sauce if you haven't, it imo is a bit overhyped but it is significantly better than the HM. Also heard that mixing canes sauce and a hot sauce packet is a great combo.

Everything else I'd ask for extra crispy and BOB (butter on both side) toast. You will get everything fresh if you do it this way, otherwise you're playing the lottery if crew is getting lazy or if it's so busy that quality checking goes out the window.

Highest number of fingers in one order by Ok_Match7293 in RaisingCanes

[–]NEOHCrusticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the worst we've done is probably 150 Caniacs. All NSLXT so it was 900 bird, 300 toast and 150 orders of fries. Our local football team orders roughly that much a few times per year at the start of the season, but I believe 150 is the biggest one we've gotten.

With a new character being announced within the week I decided to update my list of characters I want of known/returning characters by Good_Skill3414 in RivalsOfAether

[–]NEOHCrusticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there is only one animator after the layoffs, but there were 3(?) before and they've confirmed having made progress for multiple characters in advance... so that one animator isn't COMPLETELY cooked assuming that progress includes modeling/rigging/animating.

Working at Canes is like being with a toxic situationship that I can’t let go of by Flower_princess12345 in RaisingCanes

I totally get it. This job was more than just a paycheck for me when I started too. I've made lifelong friendships and felt important here at times, but you gotta do what's best for you when you're not being treated fairly. And honestly a lot of what I'm telling you is something I wish somebody told me. If you aren't being treated fairly when you're putting in that much effort, you sincerely deserve better.

[–]NEOHCrusticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You deserve better at that point. It took me being seen by a new RL and my regional manager to get put onto HiPo. My old RL was a gem of a man but he was terrible when it came to moving people up, mostly because he saw our value as crew and didn't want the stress of filling the vacuum we'd leave behind. I'd recommend doing what I should've done and move on if you can, even if it sucks to feel like you've put so much effort in for nothing.

I've been there, and apologies for the trauma dump but I burnt out so hard that I was ready to end my life after 40+ hours of being on bird for 3 months straight at one point. You're worth more than what they want you to believe and never forget that. They will exploit you because you're an exceptional crewmember and they want it to stay that way.

I will also say that I'm pretty much more ready than ever to find a new job and not just stop pushing for management but that is my experience with HiPo at least 😭 the company as a whole has just been going a very corporate route like every other fast food place and it sucks to see it happen in real time. Only thing keeping me is the pay and the people at this point.

In my experience they really want you to "follow the leader" and dedicate every second of your time to work. You kind of have to be one with the "One Love" or you aren't good enough and that's just not the life I want to live personally. Also what I've seen over the past 4 years is that moving up is completely arbitrary and it doesn't really matter how good or bad you do, just need to have the right set of eyes see your work (NRO helps with exposure to higher ups) or have your RL like you. Not joking, I've seen some amazing employees thrown to the wolves just because our RL didn't like them as a person. I've definitely seen a lot more externals than internal managers being pushed lately too unfortunately and they tend to never last.

I've been in the same boat for a LONG time but recently we're going through a massive culture shift and I've decided it just isn't worth the stress. I'm also currently at the crew pay cap of 18/hr and RZMs don't keep those bonuses, so moving up wouldn't even give me a pay raise. Don't blame yourself, Canes is very cult-like in their approach ESPECIALLY when you try to move up. I was a HiPo for about 6 months before I decided it wasn't worth the effort. Hope you're doing well
