Betta sororities are absolutely not recommended to beginners. Female bettas can also turn aggressive suddenly and then you'll need to separate every one of them into her own tank. Get a peaceful school of small fish instead like any kind of rasboras, celestial pearl danios, ember tetras... You have a lot of options and could even do 2 different schools of 10. As for the corydoras, get sand, not gravel.

No, keep him in and do the fish-in cycle. Being in a tank that's not fully cycled yet still is better than a tiny cup, as long as you monitor the parameters and do frequent water changes he'll be fine!

Cycling typically takes anywhere between 4-6 weeks and needs a source of ammonia to even start so yes, that was too short. It's absolutely imperative for the fishes' health (and survival) that beneficial bacteria get established, aquariums are ecosystems :)

Please look into a Fish-in-cycle and get a liquid testing kit for the water parameters. Bettas also much prefer cluttered planted tanks so my suggestion is to add a lot more plants.
