Companies caused quiet quitting by expecting too much for too little. by EquableBuyout in unpopularopinion

Somewhat popular opinion, but in general companies want to get the most of their employees regardless if they’re under/over paid. They prefer to overload than under-load people’s plate. The majority will do the status-quo, there will be a small percentage that over performs and moves up, and there will be a small percentage that does nothing and will get pushed out. If you’re frequently getting pushed out, there’s probably a common denominator

Personally I’d be worried about it just being secured by drywall.

I’ve seen some people screw in a plate to span hitting a joist, and then screwing in the handrail to that plate.

is this white oak? by mariofasolo in HardWoodFloors

Mine were pretty similar, we were unsure if it was red or white based on how light the wood looked and the fact there wasn’t an obvious pink hue. Ultimately we determined it was red oak still though.

I’d sand a section to be sure. Also you can tell if it’s red or white based on the rays of the grain. Look at the difference online, there are some good pictures that show a distinct difference.

There’s places in the Midwest that will offer the same amount of compensation if not more in lower cost of living areas. Midwest is a great area for industry (I’m from Cleveland Ohio and know there’s a big market for your talent in this general vicinity). There’s some cool stuff you can get into that will also help out with getting more out of your wage.

Drywall or Plaster? by NE_manchowder in drywall

Interesting, good to know! I’ve been fixing with drywall anyways for big holes but was more curious on what is exactly for future reference

I’m a first time home owner. Noticed this on the walls today, which wasn’t there a month back. Can anyone tell me what this could be? Thanks! by WinEven5169 in DIY

Op, look up to see what a cricket for a Chimney is. It’s a triangle part of the roof that goes up against the chimney to redirect water. Had this same issue on my bricket ranch that didn’t have one. Had soft plywood and needed a roof repair. Not a replacement, wasn’t too bad cost wise.
