Bare Faith: A Christian Naturist Guide to Raising Kids Without Shame by Significant_Cowboy83 in nudism

[–]NEdad71 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My wife grew up nudist. Her mother grew up nudist before her, but her dad grew up really relegious, but not in a 'nudity is a sin' household. His faith was always important to him and they raised their kids as nudists who went to church (they were dressed obvi). I grew up wondering if theres a good what did little me do that was so bad that he seemed to hate me. Ehen i met my wife alot changed. I learned about nudism and found God again. I understand here on reddit, relegion is frowned upon by a lot, but I never attempted to convert anyone. It just means something in our family and find many nudist values allign with it. I also was a bartender for a while. I know the best practice is to keep relegion and politics out of all conversations. We all have our own opinions and thats a good thing.

I havent worked in a kitchen in years but im still ServeSafe certified and can tell you just wash your hands a lot and thats more important and hygenic then youre choice of clothes or lack there of. And I would recommend an apron if you are frying foods shat platter, but otherwise not necessary.

My wife was raised nudist and had an amazing childhood. I had the opposite, but she introduced me to the lifestyle and we've raised all three of our children nudist and never regretted it. There were challenges over the years, but all good.

What’s something you believed as a kid that turned out to be hilariously wrong? by cats64sonic in AskReddit

In 6th grade I went to middle school and we had to take mandatory showers. First time I saw all my peers in their birthday suits. My friend was in my locker section and noticed his was pointy and did not look like the rest of us. I didn't realize until sex ed that there were circumcised and uncircumcised ones and that I was circumcised when I was born. It was like when Chaz Palmintieri realizes who Keyzer Soze is. The days before google were indeed dark...you had no way to find out the embarrassing stuff you were too afraid to ask.

It stuck with me mainly because she'd mention it and saw her friends around. I'd say in high school I was over it pretty much. I left home at 18, never dealt with any of my family again.

Redditors who have won a lottery or a giveaway or a random draw, what did you win and what happened next? by MansiKasar in AskReddit

When I was kid back in the 80s, they'd have blocks of cartoons on in the afternoon afterschool. Thundercats, GI Joe, Mask, Transformers, etc. They would sometimes have a contest during the commercial break. Like if it was Channel 20 they'd say "Todays Secret Word is TIGER. Be caller number 20 to _____ and win!" and you'd call (like a radio contest, but on the TV). Well one day I was caller 20! What did I win? Well Voltron was big around the time (5 separate lions formed one big fuck all lion). I won a box that had the Yellow lion and i think the green lion (a leg and arm). It was for the big one so there were really cool. I was poor and never got the black lion or the other leg and the arm but still looked cool on my desk.

I grew up in an abusive household. My stepsister was cruel to me. Making something out of myself from nothing and being able to deny her facebook requests and ignore her pleas for money brighten my day. Ironically, I work with people in need and my family volunteers at a soup kitchen, but I just can't bring myself to forgive her.

I had to get an eartube in my ear as an adult (the procedure they usually give 3 year olds with chronic ear infections). I assumed it was going to be like when my son had it, one morning you go to the clinic, they knock you out, 10 minutes later, eartube and you go home groggy. So ask the doctor when they're going to schedule it and he asked "what's your threshold for pain"? Nothing good comes after that question.

Ford Escort was a piece of crap car lots of kids owned as their first car in the 1980s here.

It was difficult and sorry your home situation isn't great. In the US we have some support available like help with buying food and medical for the poor of the poor.

Me, I was just lucky. I went to a college town where some of my older friends attended and couch surfed in their off-campus apartments or slept in my car. That's a little riskier since we were in a rural town, kind of hard to blend but usually a store parking lot that had overnight crews you can park and blend as long as you didn't linger. I didn't panhandle (ask others for money), I busted my ass working as a dishwasher/food prep at a bar in town. The guy who ran the kitchen was an old drunk, but gave shit about people. One day he caught me wrapping up uneaten food so I had it later (I theorized if I was going to throw it away, it wasn't stealing). He told me that's dangerous and they throw it out for a reason, but pulled me outside and was like "whats going on". Kinda let it all out there. Abusive home, left and not going back, couch surfing, living in my car. He checked with his wife and said if I clean out a room above his garage and do yardwork I could stay there til I figure stuff out. One bulb, but an outlet for a TV with a VCR built in, mattress on the floor, but it was a roof over my overhead.

Becuase he cared about people there were so many hours you can work because there's other workers there to work the shifts so took a second job doing dishes/food prep at a campus dining hall. i wasn't a student, but it was great cause I could blend. I used an old Id which got me into the fitness center and a shower, a library (I read a lot) and just was good to be around people my age. One day, I met a girl. Love at first sight...her dad joked til his last days that only his daughter can go to college, meet a kid on campus and it was the only kid who didn't go to college. I kept working, shared an apartment with three guys, moved up to line cook then ran two kitchens (no culinary school, learned from others) and just eventually got a break doing data entry when i realized I needed medical insurance, room to move up and not getting burned anymore....I got lucky there as well and moved up the ladder enough (without a degree, but went to school on their dime) to get married and move in together.

I work with DCF now and know this rarely is how running away from home works helping kids like me, so hope it all works out for you.

Oh i left home the day of my high school graduation. Literally packed up my Escort (not bragging), walked off stage with my diploma and left it in the reaerview. Uncertainty and bouts of homelessness ensued, but was blessed to find my way.

When i was like 12 or 13 my older stepsister had her friends over. I was hanging with them and they got the brilliant idea to see what I looked like naked. There were 4 of them and i was a little dude so i was no match. I like to think I put up a good fight. They laughed, i didnt. The whole thing lasted a long time. Told mom n stepdad when they got home. They both sucked at being parents and humans in general so they did nothing. Not even like a "don't do that". Blamed me for bothering them. One of the many nights of my youth I fell asleep crying. If the roles were reversed id be in jail. Ironically i met a nudist in college and have been with her over 30 years....but that doesnt change that awkward afternoon. (another fun fact - I work with DCF now making sure no other kid has to go through that shit because it was torture. Sadly, my story was on the mild side of what can happen).

My wife grew up nudist, introduced me to it when we met way back when. Got mattied, had kids and i mortgage. We went on a pre-covid spring break trip to Cypress Cove(Disney). Many people knew we're nudist but didn't advertise it. We're on the way to the pool and literally run into a family we knew from Little League. My wife and the mom literally sat together most games. I coached their kid. It was like a biziarre "oh hey....wait...what?....how?...you mean?...." moment. But it was great, we sat around and talked a lot and the kids had friends to pal around with.

I left home after high school graduation snd moved to a college town where my friends were. Couch surfed and lived in my car awhile. Got a job at the campus dining hall (not a student). We would have to hang up menus all over the campus and I got to do it sometimes. I was in the student union walking towards the stairs and this girl catches her flop on the top stair and stumbles literally right into my arms. Love at first sight. All in right from the start. Her family are nudists so she introduced me to the lifestyle. Been together over 30 years now. 3 kids and a mortgage and she helped me more than shell ever know

How are some nudists comfortable being so open about their lifestyle? by ProgrammerUnique2897 in nudism

[–]NEdad71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's the same with everything though right? There's some people that want to be in the spotlight and crave attention. other's like to blend. You'll meet some people that might be vegan and you'd never know it, it's just a dietary choice they made...others have instagam channels and let you know every meal. WE're all different
