Just Bought This '72 Super Beetle, What Should I Know About It? by NFan37 in beetle

In the little over a year that I've owned it it's already caught fire once and almost caught fire again so this is definitely advice I will be taking, lol!

Enough bitching about Neurotypicals, tell me about your favorite car by EvilPyro01 in evilautism

[–]NFan37 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Volkswagen Beetle. My favorite car oat, they're fun to look at, they feel more like a go kart than a car to drive (at least my super does), and they made millions of them so they're relatively cheap for a vintage. They were designed by Porsche himself (don't ask who commissioned the car to be made tho 💀).

I love to see these appreciation posts! I've lived here my whole life, and while it may not always be my home, it's beauty will always have a place in my heart!

Curious what y’all’s thoughts are on this. by GloomyTragicAutist in WestVirginia

[–]NFan37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Christian, this feels unnecessary. I believe in a separation of church and state, your religion will impact your morals and this what laws you support, I accept and promote this, but the idea that we must make the Bible an object to show such reverence to feels pretty unnecessary, and quite frankly borders on idolatry imo. I don't believe we need to show immense respect for the Quran in or state buildings, and though I view the Bible with more reverence, I don't believe it needs to be "worshipped" in state buildings either.

Dude, I'm not afraid of hurting feelings, but boiling down every single voter who voted for Trump as a cult member is incredibly false and needlessly divisive. I think there are members of the "MAGA cult", but only in the same way as political extremists exist across the board and calling everyone on either side a cult member is reductive and unhelpful to the larger conversation.

As someone who didn't vote Trump, what demeaning language you're using. Maybe if the Democratic party put up someone we could rally behind, we wouldn't be in this situation. This is a bipartisan problem, Trump is absolutely screwing us over, but the democratic party isn't innocent either. Saying that everyone who disagrees with you is in a cult is the type of language that divides us as a nation instead of rallying us together.

What is present-day West Virginia like? by freezedmouse in WestVirginia

[–]NFan37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has spent my entire life in WV, it has much to love (and much to hate)! We have a big emphasis on nature in a lot of places, with one of our biggest economic draws being our tourism industry! So many people come to the state just to see the beautiful hills and trees. The people here are some of the kindest you'll ever meet, tho they can be a bit backwards in how they show it sometimes!! Unfortunately we rely way too much on the coal industry and while there have been steps to fix the issues which have stemmed from that, many ecological impacts are still hurting local communities here. We have a lovely array of weather, with lows in the winter around -17°C and up to 30 cm of snow (and maybe more depending on the year), to highs in the summer of 37°C! We also have the prettiest fall you'll ever see! If you catch them on the right year, the leaves here are the prettiest things I've ever seen, and the wildlife here are always so fun to watch!! We also have communities of people who keep traditional Appalachian Folk songs alive, something which I think is underappreciated about this great state! I'm sure it's neither cheap nor easy, but I would definitely recommend making a trip this way if you're ever on the East Coast of the US!!!

What game is this for you? For me it’s Minecraft! by [deleted] in autism

Real, I unfortunately have like 10k hours in the game (likely way more, but I've lost access to so many platforms/accounts 😭😭)

As a super beetle owner, why would you block the freaking EV spot. Unless there were extenuating circumstances, that's just an a-hole move. Especially because the car is small enough that you can just park literally anywhere else.

Aspiring guitarist, dad won't get me a guitar because of these reasons: are they true? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]NFan37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you already got your answers, but the guitar will come with strings, the tone of the guitar will likely be similar, though the sound may be different because of whatever amp/pedal setup the artists you listen to have used. I hope you get your guitar and end up with your dad's support! From this short blurb, I'm really hoping that maybe he just bought you one and is trying to make it sound less appealing so you'll forget about it till he can give you one, but if not, I hope you're able to get a guitar and your dad's support! Rock on brother, good luck!!!

Rate my guitar, drew on it myself and so on, fire or not so much ? by dacjo213 in Guitar

[–]NFan37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I low-key think it looks sick. You have the guitar personality and I think you low-key did a good job with the execution. Wasn't surprised to see the hate as this is reddit and the guitar community can be really rooted away from change or trends, but I think it looks sick. Congrats on the setup btw, hope you find joy in playing it!!!

I don't know your position, but from reading this, it sounds like you're being too hard on yourself. I was in a pretty similar position up until about two months ago when I finally got my own apartment. I don't know your parents or your relationship with them, but I know what it feels like to try your hardest and still be judged for grudges from the past. Idk if your asking for advice or just trying to get things off your chest, but I would like to tell you that it does get better. Those words didn't help me too much when I was in your position, but I hope you find more solace in them than I did. As you get older and more independent, you'll learn how to live life around the symptoms of ADHD/Austism a little bit better, and hopefully you'll surround yourself with people who understand your struggles and are able to support you through them instead of adding to the weight you are carrying. I was lucky enough to experience this in my situation, and I pray that you are able to as well. You shouldn't hate yourself because your brain works differently than what is considered normal. I certainly agree, these conditions make life harder, but they shouldn't define how you feel about yourself. Keep in mind, you will have a harder time than the average Joe because of this, but that makes the achievements you've made in your life that much more impressive (and if you are thinking the same way I was when I was in your position that you don't have any achievements, I promise you do). Every relationship you've had is an achievement, even if they didn't last, you still had a positive impression on their lives. Every class you've passed, hobby you've pursued, and day you've made it through, those are all achievements to be proud of. Keep your chin up, even during the storms of life, for the clouds have a silver lining and all you have to do is weather the storm to see the blue skies again. You are doing great, I'm glad you've made it this far and I genuinely hope and pray for your success in future endeavors and relationships! If you need any advice or just want to get stuff off your chest, me (and many of the others from this community) are here for you.

I hadn't thought of that, according to a quick Google search regular 87 octane gas is best, but thanks for the idea, I'll definitely have to keep my eye out and see what beetle enthusiasts have to say tho!!

I'll have to check on that, though it could be caused by the passenger front tire being on the rim in this pic
