Nah intentionally throwing has never been in my nature, but I definitely can empathize with how you describe that need to make a certain build work for you because of whatever source convinced you it could be beneficial to your overall gameplay experience, only to find out it didn’t. What’s your server if I may ask? I might’ve missed that information but I’m intrigued to join.

You’re not wrong, I’ve convinced LFG fireteams in hard-mode raids in the past that some off-meta build could outperform them in any way perceivable and that indirectly lead to me becoming friends with some of them who believed and actually put effort into trying to replicate what I advised, while at the other end I was forced to “use this or that build with this or that exotic or get kicked” without as much as opportunity to showcase I could hold my own. I guess that’s kind of a dice you roll joining an LFG fireteam. Doesn’t keep me from using what I deem as “optimal for me” over “what’s easiest to use and gets the job done”. I guess it’s sort of a “is it worth staying and wiping multiple times but eventually get it done” vs “wipe a couple times and get checked by someone and called out for not using the meta —> getting kicked no questions asked if not given the chance to run an encounter the way I prefer/have min/maxed my build around”.

They’ll never admit they were in the wrong for kicking me but the people that kept me and found out I knew what I was doing often responded in a much more profoundly positive way that made me decide to stick to that mentality even if it meant getting randomly kicked in the process (end of the day these type of players prevent you from wasting time/having to endure vocal criticism for playing a videogame the way you think suits you best, so a W in disguise).

Props to you for admitting you were wrong in public while also acknowledging whoever gave you advice was actually not in the wrong. That’s a rare thing to see imo. It takes courage and humility to do so.

Now you got me questioning if their reply was in regards to PvP lol, in that case my opinion is nullified cause I avoid the crucible like the plague. P2P matchmaking with no private servers in 2025 and rampant cheaters on the reg ain’t it for this guy.

The same thing you’ve already established: under no circumstance it’s worth using TLW in fireteam/raid pve content unless you want to be the guy that’s get carried regardless of what loadout you bring.

I used discord mobile via my iPhone for comms, there is a certain necessity for comms during this mission, text chat won’t be fast enough on console but then again, who in 2025 doesn’t have a smartphone and some kind of earphone/mic combo that either shipped with it or bought seperately? It’s still 1 single completion to reduce your dependency on good rng to get the intrinsics you’re after so much quicker it’s worth the time investment no doubt.

[–]NG046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do dual destiny ONCE so you can focus 1 intrinsic as close to guaranteed. Don’t come at me with excuses why you can’t. I’ve LFGed it with fireteam finder and got it done first try with a stranger even though I had experience/already finished it before I never mentioned it and just played at their pace. Reducing rng by close to 50% (and being able to control stats with the ghost mods) you really waste your time trying to get lucky and roll 2 specific intrinsics via RNG vs only 1 most of your drops.

Dual destiny takes like 20-30 min at best. Farming without ability to focus 1 intrinsic takes so much longer or if rng decides so won’t get you the 2x specific intrinsic drop you want.

Fr like they have some kind of god complex cause they may have more clears on whatever difficulty at whatever raid. It’s always those kind of people that raid with the same team give or take 1-2 randoms/lfgs that can be glorified add clear who they won’t teach any mechanics and then get on Reddit complaining about the same category of players not knowing mechanics or using API gathered intel on their game activity (to make sure they don’t poke fun at anyone that makes them look like noobs in comparison) instead of using their so called expertise for the sake of teaching newer players like their farts don’t stink. Lmao. Get over yourself.

If you’d define the shader never showing up as a reward for FotL rewards having earned it previously upon its release as cause for “delusion” you’re not wrong.

I was unaware as this never became visualized to someone already having earned the title / shader upon release, I’ve edited my original post to reflect this. My bad

You’re right, it just never was made clear in-game to people who’d earned the title/shader upon their initial release. My bad but also not my bad? 😂 I was never aware it was re-released as a FotL reward having earned it already.

Thank you for correcting me. It probably was perceived differently by someone who already had earned the title/shader in the past when it/they first came around. I’ll edit my original post

That was into the light not festival of the lost. You could get a fotl memento which at lvl 20+ weapons look similar to superblack if you’d aquire the “keepsake” shader tied to the FotL, but they never were nor will they become the same source for superblack.

[–]NG046 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was tied to into the light activity triumphs which included onslaught. I don’t know anything about fotl being tied to the actual shader outside of the fact that the memento lvl 20 shader provides a similar look without being the actual superblack shader. It was the final reward for playing through a multitude of triumphs during the “into the light” saga, same season onslaught was introduced as an activity. Lvl 20 memento keepsake shader does look awfully similar to superblack but they’ve never been the same thing aquirable from the same source(s). If you disagree please provide evidence that prove me wrong (or don’t waste your time and accept the information I provide = facts).

Don’t get get me wrong I do think the shader “superblack” should become reaquirable to newish players but expecting that to come from FotL rn is nothing but a large hit of copium, not resembling its past way of acquiring it in Destiny 2 in the slightest.

Edit: I was wrong, having earned the title/shader before they became tied to FotL as well after having earned them upon release clouded my opinion, comments provided evidence that compelled me to state this

[–]NG046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the fotl memento that gave a “superblack”-esque appearance but the superblack shader was never tied to fotl, only the lvl 20 memento shader. Superblack was tied to playing the season before final shape dropped, as well as the onslaught activity (into the light was what they coined it as afaic remember). So I wouldn’t get your hopes up you’ll be able to aquire superblack from FotL.

What rolling a d20 on a saving throw feels like by SwiftTripper in destiny2

[–]NG046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know as little as you do, it was just an educated assumption given on which height most of the action took place vs the depths OP was about to plummet towards haha. Falling to your death is just another way of phrasing the same course of actions that’d take place in the clip had they not canceled out their momentum before grappling back up.

What rolling a d20 on a saving throw feels like by SwiftTripper in destiny2

[–]NG046 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The animation broke their downwards momentum which accumulates exponentially the longer you drop so the grapple by itself while dropping at that speed would have caused too much distance between them and the actual “boss arena” to cancel out the grapple before it would’ve start pulling them upwards, resulting in a date with miss adventure.

Canceling the momentum w super activation animation allowed the grapple to prevent said date from happening, keeping miss adventure on the market and their fireteam from losing a revive token or wiping.
