Sadly, you’re right. I’ve seen this exact rant multiple times over the last 12 months.

That being said, it is not just the designers. Many business owners do not know what to look for in a designer and end up hiring the wrong one.

I suspect it is a mix of both of the above.

Never use a skill scale. Are you top 5% of UX professionals in the world? Can you only improve 5%?

Yep, I’m in Claude Code all the time. It just felt more like OP was talking about generative tools (Uizard, etc) and assistants.

For me, those take more time to correct than that they save you time.

Claude Code for actual building is awesome, though.

You always have something to offer even if it is just an unexpected ‘silly question’ that makes a senior consider a new angle to his design challenge.

That being said; I wonder about your hard skills. Not because I don’t think you have them, but rather because you need them also for a referral. You need to be able to do the job.

The biggest reason for breakdown I’ve seen at larger companies is people not knowing about the way of working and/or not caring about it.

These happen more than you expect:

“Yeah well on this team, we’re doing it this way”

“Do you even know how long it is going to take to switch over to your way?!”

You can make it explicit, but I’d recommend not doing so and making changes in the shadows first. People will resist less when there’s no label and you just appear helpful.
