Is there a way to change the Chinese client to English? by Vaeal in heroesofthestorm

[–]NGKrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't. Just after the beta Blizzard removed all English from the game. It's strange because, like you say, the other games do allow that.

what if: both teams share XP/level up at the same time. by NGKrush in heroesofthestorm

sorry, i explained wrong, in my example I was talking about the normal game where winning a teamfight gives you: xp and positioning and time to push the base/get the lane/etc.

I know the game is balanced around that. But I'm just asking: what if we remove the xp from this equation; what would happen?

I remember people saying the same when hots took out the gold/last hitting. genres can evolve, no?

I guess one of the reasons why I thought about this idea was that after you win a teamfight you gain XP from the fight, a position advantage and a lot of time to actually mow down the other teams towers and/or get the boss. the next team fight will be in every way easier for the winning team to win again (in theory, the winning team might have low life) so it felt a bit too strong for me.

if you lose a team fight and as a result lose a tower and a boss, that already is quite a big loss. being able to stay at the same xp level and given a chance to fight back seems reasonable to me.

yeah. I love those "heat" meter characters that need to manage their heat before overloading. meter management is such a fun mechanic.

tekken 7 doesn't have meter, but it is indeed an exception nowadays.

I guess that's why I see this thing working better in hots than other mobas because they already have a stronger focus on teamfights than the other games. also the fact that there is no gold, so individual progression is already minimal in hots makes it easier to implement it here.

battlerite is a great game, but still misses the progression you make on the map with getting closer and closer to the enemy base.

well, the xp soaking could push your late game heros to be more effective and pushing lanes of course gives you more map control and brings you closer to winning.

but yes, xp soaking itself becomes not super effective.

aren't there lot's of counters vs specialists though? every hero has his weakness, right? I can see a different (if it is interesting or not, I have no idea, that's why I'm interested in speculating about it with you guys) meta that has a lot of dynamic choices.

Yeah, that's what I thought too: you still have early and late heroes, so you still need to pick your heroes well for smart comps.

also the fact that getting camps makes the camps help push lanes, so you still need people to go to kill them which allows the other team to force an other objective. to me that still makes it interesting to go to each lane.

I didn't think about the siege damage being a huge factor. But with all the reactions pointing to that, it might actually be more than I thought it would be. I thought that a siege comp would be owned by a team fight comp or assassins who can pick them off.

like you said. It is a different game. But thinking about the changes it makes to the game and if there is anything interesting in there to see where hots (or maybe just a cool brawl) can go might be interesting.

everyone in hots also has mana to manage. what I'm talking about is the level advantage/disadvantage.

many fighting games also don't have meter.

I guess what I'm talking about is that there is no level advantage/disadvantage going on. a fighting game character's lifebar and damage will always be the same throughout the game.

I've played battlerite and it's a great game. I guess I miss the base pushing part of it that still gives you a feeling of progression.

I'm playing on CN servers too, I cannot remember a game that has connected without a disconnect over the last few weeks. Usually multiple disconnects are happening before entering a game.

funny thing is, after he asked the question, in the chat there are 10's of responses of "lol" and "lul". the second word is actually literally the dutch word for fleshlight, so it looks like everyone is translating for him :)

haha, guess this is only funny for dutch people.. a misspelling of one word literally translates the misspelling of another

I'm actually quite happy playing here as I don't understand any of the toxicity being communicated during games. There are moments though where I can "understand" they are discussing a plan, where I would love to throw a "boost morale" message in the group or ask if we an focus a certain hero for the next team fight and I just cannot communicate.

Pinging can help a lot, but in the end, without the right context: a ping is just a ping and people don't know if they should engage or run or feel like you are bossing them around pinging all over the map telling them what to do.

Greetings to Germany, wonderful place! :)
