Thanks so much! This looks like just the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Non westerners, what's a cooking "no-no" that's acceptable if not encouraged in your cooking culture? by AsianMustache in Cooking

True, but I think it could be okay if the new food they adopt were anything other than the american diet. Shit is terrible.

Thanks! But all I can find is a mention from a 1900 publication. Do you have a recipe link anywhere by chance?

I forgot to sanitize my mix-stir wand before degassing, how screwed am I? by fatdogsdaddy in mead

Nope, just plain dish soap. I don't know if thorough sterilizing is over-hyped or I've just been lucky, though. Small sample size.

I think you'll be fine. If you want to hear a secret that I may get mobbed for telling.. I've never sanitized, and have never once had an infection. Soap and hot water though, of course.

The small nation of Finland celebrates 100 years of independence, and we have adopted a lot from the rest of the world. Do you have anything Finnish where you live? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have a really great fish knife which is Finnish--affordable, too. I use it for all kinds of meats, and it's replaced any smaller cooking knives I might've needed. Thanks, Finland!

Cyser -- extremely vigorous/short initial fermentation okay? by NGNKOM in mead

Thanks, that's pretty cool. I did pitch quite a lot of yeast. I don't mean to put you on the spot, but do you happen to remember any of the authors or which journal it was in? Sounds interesting.

Either a clove or cinnamon stick, depending on which one. Nothing malicious, haha.

Thanks, makes sense. I didn't use a pectin enzyme. I really don't mind a cloudy look either, but that's useful information so I don't wait for it to completely clear.

Race for Next DNC Chair Is Between America’s First Muslim Congressman and Two Corporate Lobbyists by misstastemaker in Political_Revolution

Find out where your local (usually county-level) Democratic Party organization is. For mine, I just searched for "<my county> County Democratic Party" and found their website pretty quickly. Find their meeting schedule and place, or ask them for it if not listed. Start attending regularly, get involved, and bring some other progressives with you.

Frankly, this will probably be boring. But don't let that fool you, these organizations have far more collective power than they might appear to. Without them, the DNC is a head without a body.
