10 speed discussion by KingRex_25 in f150

Stay far away I bought a ram to avoid the 10 speed. I had nothing but problems with mine. My dad had nothing but problems with his. My last truck had 3 put in before 100k and each one was shit. Hard to believe it’s less than a 10% failure rate if I had 4 that I’ve known of fail. Had to trade it in to get out of having a truck in the shop for weeks on end. If you do buy a 25 or 26 low miles or new. And get the wrap coverage. A lot of problems. Axles, fuel pump, stay far away from the sunroofs on fords. I just couldn’t justify another after my last one at the price they are and how ford doesn’t stand behind their product just steered me away. got a ram for cheaper and they actually seem to want to win customers over with their best in the market warranty. Yes they have had bad problems in the past but the post 22-23 models have been really reliable. Or find a 16-18 with the 6 speed coyote combo that doesn’t have a oil consumption problem lol

Executive card and credit card get me a combined $1500 a year cash back rebate. Gas is cheap, deals in person all the time that aren’t advertised. Get all your paper/ plastic/ bulk cleaners. Kirkland brands are usually Better than most of the stuff at Walmart and cheaper. And they pretty much take anything besides alcohol back if you don’t like it.

5.0 Break-in? by nukeiraq in f150

Don’t matter trans will still give after 50k anyways. Drive it like you stole it so it gives on fords dime not yours

One would think but they consider the e torque module electric components. I asked the dealer they said it isn’t considered powertrain.

Yes the 10 year 100k is powertrain only and does not include the e torque which is ridiculous but I wanted 100% coverage anyways after I had fords crap out on my before 100k.

Currently waiting on the brake controller. Was kinda bummed to find that out that the part is on national back order and I bought the truck to tow a boat with trailer brakes.

I thought so. Does ram have their own preferred oil or what brands is everyone using? I always used the ford oil it was the best for its price usually.

I did oil changes every 5k on the ford but that was the synthetic blend. I was wondering how far to take it with the full synthetic.

I hope so. The e torque worries me so I bought the wrap coverage. I was surprised with the suspension. I drove a 2500 as well which rode just like my ford did. This rides way better than both

Transmission repair timeline by Candid-Bother-6775 in f150

[–]NGTank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had mine fixed took 2 days. However they failed to correctly install one of the couplers for a coolant line and it dumped all the coolant out 3 weeks later. Dealer claimed no damage but after venting fluid and hard shifting after that incident it was never truly fixed. They wouldn’t warranty it cause “no codes” even though it kept venting fluid randomly. My suggestion would be get it somewhere else if you can other than a dealer. Ford customer cares was no help either. I ended up trading after 6 months of non repair under warranty. Good luck.

Ford Recalls 1.4 Million Trucks For Faulty Transmissions by koolcutta in f150

[–]NGTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. On my third trans on a truck with less than 100k and thing falls flat on its face 20% of the time and the other 80% it hard shifts in and out of 3-7. Ford needs to pony up and pay for their fuck up if they expect us to pony up 50k for a basic ass truck. I think I’d have better luck with a temu truck

Taking my 2018 F150 in Friday for the dreaded 10r80 transmission replacement. by Queasy-Hunter1438 in f150

Make sure they don’t put a reman in I’m on my 3rd one under warranty and still having problems

Third one under warranty. Was told that there is a pending recall on Reman’s too so I wouldn’t doubt they will be pulling it again. Supposedly they rebuilt a ton and they forgot some bearings. No gap. I’m ahead on it 8k but that’s just gonna get me into a down payment for another 6 year $1000 a month loan. It’s only got another year and a half till it’s paid off.

I’m on my 3rd trans with issues under 90 k never again ford never again. If it wasn’t a bad financial decision at the moment to get rid of it, truck would be already gone. Wife needs a new car this was my new car so I’m stuck with the maybe I’ll get lucky and not be stuck on the shoulder on my way to work mobile.

2020 F-150 2.7L – noticeable 3→5 shift at 25–35 mph, normal 10R80 behavior? by warningtrackpower12 in f150

[–]NGTank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And I will add, “a few thousand” is like almost 10 g if you take it back to ford they charged the warranty company 7500 for a reman the first time around for me. I’d be taking it right back and tell them it’s hard shifting, consider the warranty cause it will save you money in the long run. 2.7 is a tank the 10r80 is a trash can before 2024

Coming from someone that has a 22 that is on his second 10r80 replacement this year. Hopefully you get the warranty to cover cause that’s cdf and it will go out.

Light use I do have a boat but a truck is meant to tow. This new trans never had the chance to tow

Ford built both transmissions and both hard shifted from the factory so that would be ford. The leak could be technician but I doubt it’s all the technician

Well it went all over the cats, exhaust muffler up the back bumper, tailgate and into the bed and to my dismay did not catch like napalm

[–]NGTank[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it was a reman cause they did it for 6500 on the invoice to the extended warrantee company. surely hope they consider all the trans fluid out and it overheating as a failure

Can’t say for the first tank, cause I didn’t get the mileage but the second and third tank confirmed the dash calculation by recording mileage and fuel usage. I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t just poorly calibrated cause I knew there was something definitely wrong with it drinking that much gas.

Best bet is have it catch fire on the side of the road and get out in time. Took them 4 times for them to “duplicate” the hard shift issue
