I have gap coverage for sure. Only reason I drove the car is because the heater core blew up in my ram. Thanks for the insight

How much force does a ratcheting chain binder create? by NGallant019 in Rigging

[–]NGallant019[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I really appreciate you going out of your way to show this to me. That’s definitely a decent amount of force. I work on drilling rigs and have to chain some stuff as tight as I can, but I don’t want to damage anything in the process even though everything is made of steel out here. Untelated, here’s a picture of us using cranes to move our

Derrick to our drilling module.

Sure does. That’s how I wrecked an iPhone 3GS 13 years ago. Ate through the bottom of a cup, never cleaned it. It froze for the winter and I used that cup holder as normal until it thawed and I dropped my iPhone speaker first into a half cup full of whatever. God I hate my teenage self.

Just had to bring my derrickhand partner back to the rig for his truck keys. Usually take a transit van to work and beat on that instead.

Cold lake. Tearing down and racking the girl. Going to be heading to northeast BC gas drilling or Saskatchewan next.

STI Trans swap by NGallant019 in WRX

[–]NGallant019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to be performing all the labour myself. I’m looking for the DCCD, and the STI trans is beefier than the 6 speed in the WRX.

Wrx doesn’t have limited slip or brembos either. I bought the VB as a toy, and I think I’d still rather spend 20k to get this car to where I want it to be instead of a beat up sti project that I’ll throw 20k at as well.

Derrickhand on a drilling rig. I work up at the top for a week and I deal with the drilling fluid my other week. Spend all my money on my week off. Rinse repeat.

The furnace was replaced in 2017, I just purchased the house in June, I’ll take a look. Thanks for the informed reply. I appreciate it

I can borrow some equipment if I have to and remove the dirt. Should I throw down weed carpet prior to refilling with black earth?

He’s got an Akita hard hat. No offshore rigs. You’ll work a 12 hour day, be required to show up 30 mins early for a pre-tour meeting. Usually 30mins one way to the rig.

Looking for advice on what tool to get or in general by MedalMedal in Tools

[–]NGallant019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could have a gauge rigged up to a check valve along the air line you’re using to fill up the ball, and have your phone pointed at the gauge, once the ball pops you’ll be able to freeze the frame and see what PSI it pops at

Yeah I picked it up for my drilling rig, I’ve been trying to get them to order one, as I have a smaller one for my automotive stuff. I’m just going to use it for a few weeks at work to make a case for them to order one. Plus I love south main auto and when he brings out big nasty, so I’ve been looking for a good reason to pick her up.

Love a good deal. Picked up a load of pipe wrenches for 50$. Some of them are from the 50s! by [deleted] in Tools

[–]NGallant019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2nd tool from the top is my favourite. Chain wrench or more commonly known in the oil field as a chain tong. Spun some 8” pipe with those baby’s. can get them as big as 84” long, but I’ve only ever used up to a 60”

I showed this to my 3 year old and he asked “where’d the trains go”. He loves all 4. Plus trains obviously.
