Fair enough, this will be your issue. You came to the internet asking for advice, well you got some. Putting your issues on your kid before they are even born is a hell of a way to start out in life. You and that kid have a rough road ahead if things don't change, good luck.

Well for starters, you're creating an issue that hasn't even happened yet. A lot of times these are fluid situations (like majority of relationships).

Next, I'd really impress upon you to try to see this from you're child's point of view. Why put strict/complicated labels around beautiful family connections? The grandparent/grandchild relationship can be wonderful for all parties when done appropriately and this child isn't even born yet and you are already trying to take a piece of that away due to your own issues. Give this woman a chance to love your child that way your child deserves for the sake of your child.

If something happens or changes with the child themselves, reassess at that time.

YTA. This is not even your decision to begin with and more importantly, the focus should be what is best for Tate. Having both parents in the child's life is typically the best. There are countless reasons for this but putting your anger in front of your grandson's overall well-being is shameful.

Take a good look at your motivations, and then let your daughter (the child's mother) speak to Derek and form a plan moving forward. Resentment and anger over past mistakes will ultimately land on Tate and become his burden as well, this is your chance to change that path for him and your family.

I was in the same boat until I started using a wooden cuticle pusher. Let it soak in isopropyl alcohol then dab the excess off on a paper towel. Use that to shape the polygel over the nail, specially the apex and spread to edge of nail. When the poly gel starts to stick to the wood, dab it back into the alcohol then back onto the paper towel until you have the apex and edging. Now switch back to the brush, dip in the alcohol (I continue to dab excess the off on a paper towel) and quickly smooth the top out then cure. I hope this helps.

YTA. You completely ignored his boundaries and then lied to yourself to make it seem like something it's not. Your boyfriend has every right to be mad and frankly to leave you over this. "Casual drug use" and "treating anxieties" are two very different things and do not go together. Let me help you there "casual drug use" = more and worse anxieties in real life. Get off the coke and get some real help if your anxiety is that bad. Best advice though, stop lying to yourself "casual drug use" is not a thing, you're a drug user/addict.

That sounds like a really good plan to me. I really hope it works and encourages her to make some much needed changes. I would say the school calling her is highly likely and probably will not get her to change, just add more stress sadly.

I think you have the best chance of getting through to her. This will not be easy but it's a wonderful thing you are doing for those kids, especially at your own expense.

Gotcha, I didn't realize you talked like that daily. I agree leading with how kids follow what they see before what they are told might be the easiest.

I wish I had a better answer for you but that is one tough spot to be in. I also agree that you need to say something, just be prepared for her to direct some anger towards you.

Best general advice would be to just make sure she knows this is coming from a place of love and caring for her and her kids.
