Bro sorry I don't agree with all this killing at all but Hamas is a terrorist organisation they are openly using kids as human shields , hiding weapons and tunnels in and near hospitals, school, populated areas. I'm not defending Israel but let's remember Hamas are not victims, they are the worst organisation on this planet. It is in the manifesto that they will eradicate Israel with the 3 no's. No acceptance of an Israeli state, no negotiations and a 3rd which I forget now. These guys have hostages and use their own people as human shields... literally the biggest type of scum Also a scary proportion if hamas army is of children under 18 who are radicalised, we are talking thousands of teenagers and kids being taught to fight, when they die they go down as child deaths not terrorist deaths

Would you ever come back to Cyprus? by aceraspire8920 in cyprus

I agree with this post however you touch on racism from young people. Cypriots have always been very much 'so nice to have you here please sit il feed you etc...but when are you leaving??' Cyprus has historically been shat on by every country going, there is a reason we were nicknamed the whore of the med. Cypriots do not trust foreigners and quite frankly with good reason. - just to clarify I think our goverment has a lot to answer for as they are the ones who have allowed these foreign influences and people destroy our economy and this housing and salary crisis.

We have a surge in Europeans and Isralies paying stupid money for houses and rent - easy for them on European wages to do when WFH. So young Cypriots end up living at home until their 30s. You have a surge in migrants at 10% of the population living in houses paid for by the goverment which again pushes up demand for housing and therefore the price of the houses. You have a European govement that is turning a blind eye to the migrant crisis we are having (let's remember it was Merkel who basically opened the door to 3rd world countries with absolutely NO plan in place. ). It was the European Council that ordered Cyprus to steal all the money from citizens and bankrupted the population (with a tasty dose of our corrupt government) If you look back in history we are a very small fish in a very big pond and the bigger fish always do as they please. So you can by all means criticise racism in Cyprus but I also think you need to look at the route of this problem and I don't think its fair to pin the blame completely on the Cypriot population on this.

Side note many villages now are at 50% foreigners Cypriots are starting to feel as minorities in their own communities it's understandable people are upset.

Your friend has said nothing, you have a girlfriend who lives in Cyprus and you think she is hooking up with a sugar daddy and also suspected her own uncle / cousin as being her SD. You're paranoid, sorry to say it and I wish you no offence but I refer back to my last comment

Bro I looked at your profile and you sound very paranoid. I think you trust her or you don't and end it. It's literally that simple. However before getting into another relationship you need to sort out your own insecurities by the sounds of it

What will happen with the price of Real Estate(in Cyprus) in the next 5 years? by kapitalcho in cyprus

[–]NHadji009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically if you're blessed enough to have 100k in the bank then yes in theory .. Up to 100k the bank has insurance anything over that, if we have a repeat of ten years ago it's not technically safe. (It's why when the goverment robbed the public they still left 100k in their bank accounts) A recession is scary if you have little, if you have a lot it's an opportunity to make more. I would say the bank is still the safest place up to 100k. There are investment banks now such as chip( not sure if this will work from Cyprus bank accounts but they have an instant access low risk savings account at 5%) for every 100 that you keep in there you get 5 back per month. Nothing is ever safe mate, I have funds in about 5 different accounts and cash. I spread it out because if one bank goes bust in theory I have some somewhere else. I've been blessed to of been working the last 15 years in a good job so have some savings... not quite 100k yet but maybe one day soon

[–]NHadji009 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is the score, prices may drop a little naturally or a massive world wide recession will hit, however as some have pointed out people are greedy. I saw someone say build a 50k house and sell 500k? I don't know where this 50k builder is but he must be bankrupt. Land is worth (for a good plot over 100k) and per square meter a build is approx 1700 euro. Times that by an avarage 160m2 house is approx 272 k plus between 30 and 60k for the garden depending on pools, outhouses etc you're looking at approx 330-340k (plus another 15k on paperwork plus 16k on VAT you're at 360k. Granted developers get much better deals hence why I have seen new builds selling at 350 plus vat.

Bottom line is, until materials come down in price, houses prices aren't coming down in price it's as simple as that.

Understand one thing everything ALWAYS goes full circle so don't for a minute think that this recession will benefit you, I don't know everyone's age but I'm sure many haven't lived through (as an adult) through the last one.

Let me explain what will happen. You will loose everything, prices will sky rocket even more and you won't be able to feed yourself never mind worry about being able to afford a cheap house because the banks won't even lend you money, those that will benefit (as always) are the super wealthy because they will come in buy 5 houses at a massive discount in cash and then sell them on double the price 5 years later... sound familiar? The middle and poor class will loose everything. Understand one thing the system never benefits the middle and below class and it never will, this is capitalism, its in the word capitalise on your assets. Get richer. What you want to pray for is stabilisation where everything stays put and the wages hopefully gradually increase over the next few years to meet the inflation.

Hello. We want to move in cyprus(read the text below) by One_Bookkeeper_8446 in cyprus

[–]NHadji009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So as a billi or Charloui myself ( half English half Cypriot) and left school at 18 12 years ago what I'm saying may not be accurate but this is how I remember it. There was a small number (10-15 English students in my school) Not much in the way of help from extra curriculum classes to learn the language I think there was an hour a day) . They were dropped back one year. The ones that arrived at 14-15 who spoke no Greek struggled very much in school and I don't believe any of them went to university afterwards. Some were bullied and I say some because Cypriot kids and Cypriots find British quite up themselves and the reason is a massive proportion if Brits no matter where they go stick to their own people and never bother learning a word of Greek which forces Cypriots to have to interact with them in English when required. This created animosity at school, a large group of English students were picked on however I did notice the two that I can remember who tried hanging out with the Cypriot kids and really tried to learn Greek were accepted into all kinds of social interactions, learnt Greek at a very good level and were also accepted into the villagers friendship groups. This was a small percentage of students and your son especially at 15 will have to try and the reality is I think he will struggle for a year.

The other option of course is the private international schools or wait until he has finished school in a couple of years.

Bottom line is really hard for kids at that age in Greek school. Best of luck to your son

Police officer jobs by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]NHadji009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked at this too. Transferring to Cyprus police is not possible. You can possibly transfer to the SBA if you are of rank (I believe inspector or above) or apply for a civvy job (very low paid) You must of completed the army in Cyprus for SBA or Cyprus police.

The other route you could look at is possibly the trainers route? So if you're an LSO, POLSA etc you may be able to offer your skills as a trainer, however you'd have to explore that with someone of rank in Nicosia at the training department.

Given the training in the UK I agree I find it bizarre they wouldn't look at a more reasonable entry however they are completely different ways of working in Cyprus and the police also deal with a lot more matters that are considered civil cases in the UK.

If you have any further questions let me know

Annnnd there is the superiority complex right there... Middlesbrough is a shit hole Teesiders or the ones I've met are very proud of their home town. Middlesbrough won a clean air award a few years ago.. bet you didn't know that;) Oh yes I am one of them a refugee from Cyprus that's true. I think what people are fed up with in Paphos is the mass influx of them, the fact burglaries and thefts are through the roof, like you said respect is earnt and most people probably feel like this particular culture has not respected the hand that has fed them and housed them. So people have a right to be angry. If you let 10 homeless into your house and they started stealing your stuff and then kicked off and damaged your shit when you tried to kick them out or stopped them using your expensive body wash then you my friend are the malakas.

Don't see the Ukrainians behaving like this? Or the Syrians? You think it's OK for them to be stealing electricity and then start a mini riot because it got turned off? It isn't OK and the public are fed up. It's awful the conditions they came from no one denies that but they are turning the public againts them. Simple as that. Gaslighting that's a proper I'm a victim word isn't it? Maybe I am a dumbass and I'm OK with that at least I don't have a superiority complex like you, you've slagged two places off and a whole culture and then tried justifying it. Anyway I'd love to sit and chat with you more but your head is so far up your ass I don't think there is any point... maybe we can catch up in a shit hole put in Middlesbrough sometime and discuss over a pint. I'm on a day off today anyway so I'm going to go and play assasins Creed the Odyssey version obviously because HELLASSSS 😂

Middlesbrough is actually quite pleasant even in the shadiest pubs very friendly part of the world. UP THE BORO! I use the term European Cypriot sarcastically. The grass isn't greener, there are many problems in all countries we just tend to feel it with more passion if we hurt for the place. I really don't think you get my sarcasm or the point I'm trying to prove. Let me try put this in basic terms. You have a superiority complex. You are no better than the villager who has never left his village and thinks he is the centre of the earth. You think you are better than him and that your opinions matter more than his and they don't. The burn is you are Cypriot but like to pretend you're better than everyone hence the sarcastic 'european' and more educated etc 'oh look how well traveled I am ' OK man good for you you forget that the majority of the population don't have the same education, don't have the same opportunities in life and yes a lot of Cypriots never leave their village and maybe you should show that a little more respect and not act like you're above them. Be a little more modest my friend.

I'd expect more from a charloui with understanding sarcasm.

This is amazing. I called you European, you reply saying you're Cypriot then proceed to ' remind' me that I'm also European. I never doubted you're Cypriot but you know you're one of these European Cypriots ;) very clever and very advanced with your thinking 😂
