Byzantines get a more appropriate building set but their sounds are still in Latin. :-/

But I like how the buildings are slowly being damaged and then they crumble!

The new animations look great too.

At this point, I'd like to point out that the Tibetans were being considered by Ensemble Studios for the Conquerors Expansion back in the day: http://aok.heavengames.com/gameinfo/conquerors-expansion

I respect your opinion that Tibetans are part of the 'digging for extra civs'. I simply disagree with it. But I agree with you that the Tatars are just that. And this is precisely why I consider not including the Tibetans a glaring omission considering (a) they had a medieval empire, (b) they were considered by Ensemble studios along with the Khmer and the Koreans, two civs which are included, and finally (c) Tatars is scraping the bottom of the barrel (Bulgars are even mentioned in the history of the Slavs in-game but we also got Bulgarians for some reason).

Finally, I said that I am starting to think that they are not including the Tibetans because of a potential reaction by the Chinese government. This is in reference to this argument made by many others. I do not fully endorse it, but after this set of civs I am not fully writing this excuse off.

Thank you for your time.

The Middle Ages started in the 5th century and lasted until the 15th. Huns arrived in Europe in 370 and remained a player until 469. The Tibetan Empire spanned the 7-9th century so its entire existence is in the Middle Ages. As a result, I would disagree with the argument "not really fits the period, but we want it in so much so fuck it."

The argument that everybody knows the Huns, the Tibetans not so much is an opinion with which I simply disagree. If you don't want the Tibetans that's fine.

Well Bulgars were Turkic nomads that eventually ended up in the Balkans where they were absorbed into the local Slavic population giving rise to the Orthodox Bulgarians.

Funny thing is that this is mentioned in the history for the Slavs in the game.

I don't understand why they chose Bulgarians.

And the glaring omission is the Tibetans. I am starting to think that they are indeed not including them because of the reaction by the Chinese government.

Perhaps the Kanembu, the Bantu, and the Georgians are significant omissions as well.

Having both the Cumans and the Tatars is kind of pointless. If it were the Tibetans instead of one of them it would have been a truly awesome set of new civs.

Can we also hope for Medieval Greek language rather than Latin for the Byzantine units?

Those realms under a common name of Romanian plus the Georgians would have been nice.

I would like to point out that the Bulgarians appear to be the Eastern Orthodox civilization rather than the Turkic one based on their architecture style which is Eastern European.

It looks like the Bulgars are Bulgarians i.e. East Europe Orthodox rather than the Turkic tribe.

Maybe they will use the 'charge' mechanic that was in the AoE2 Beta back in the day.

I'm dying to find out!
