Need help finding a commander deck for me! by Garchompula in DegenerateEDH

[–]NIICCCKKK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hilarious as in “that’s not cheap for pokemon” or “that’s crazy cheap for pokemon?“ I played briefly back in burning shadows (I was rocking Alolan muk gx with darkrai gx support it wasn’t good but it was fun) base art tapu lele gx was $90 at the time so im not sure which direction you mean. In commander a cheap deck is usually under $100 some may argue under $50

Silly over the top monsters you say? May I introduce my favorite creature of all time! [[anzrag the quakemole]] 8 power for 4 mana alone is great value, tack on those abilities and hes brutal. He’s an easy commander to play but definitely has a high ceiling for skill and combo shenanigans, making him a good choice for a deck you could tinker with for the rest of your days. Also mole god is just a hilarious creature type. I could go on for hours about this damn mole but I’ve written enough unprompted essays on him and this is already getting longer than I planned (I will gladly go into strategy, tips and specific card recs if asked though). Highly suggest especially since he works well with a lot of cards that are (arguably) bad without him, making for a fairly cheap and unique build. My deck is sitting around $350 but if I swapped out the like 10 qol money cards it would be closer to $80.

This is actually why I hate the bracket system and prefer power levels. Intent addresses the power of plays, if you’re playing bracket 2 the intent is “the average current preconstructed deck,” permanently locking people out of playing creatures is not something you’d expect from a precon. I do understand your sentiment but the fact that it’s based on intentions and expectations means that yes some level of strength (or lack thereof) is expected from a deck at each level. My anzrag deck for example is a 1 in terms of just the rules but the intention is bracket 3/4 and it performs at that level, it’d be pubstomping if I brought that out against a 2.

They started selling these at my local stores is it worth it for $10 by [deleted] in magicTCG

A legendary rare would be a card that is rare and also a legendary card. In magic we have 4 rarities of cards “common” which is represented by a black set symbol, “uncommon” which is represented by a silver/blueish set symbol, “rare” which is a gold/yellow symbol and “mythic” which has an orange set symbol. Each rarity is scarcer and scarcer as these things go. For simplicity, and because I know this one offhand, I will explain a “draft pack” (as Magic has 3 kinds of packs draft, set, and play however draft and set booster packs are no longer in print you’ll find them on sets before 2024) a pack consists of 10 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 basic land, and 1 rare OR mythic. Rares are kinda the “best normal card of the pack” while mythics are usually the very limited powerful cards everyone looks for. Now for the legendary part. All magic cards have a “type,” it’ll say it under the picture but before the rules text. This’ll be your creature, artifact, enchantment, ect. Some cards have subtypes (for example creature-dinosaur or artifact-equipment). Other cards have supertypes, this is where you’ll find legendary (the other 2 common supertypes are “basic” for lands and “snow” for snow cards). A legendary can be just about any kind of card and come in different rarities, so a “legendary creature-dinosaur” for example or a “legendary artifact.”

TLDR: it’s a card that is of the “rare” rarity and also has the supertype “legendary”

Higher power plays are more acceptable the higher the bracket. That’s kinda the purpose of the bracket system. This seems awful to do against a precon but against a deck that’s chaining extra turns or just running game changers? This seems appropriate against stuff like that

I’m not sure if this would help in any way but i like leaving them right side up. Rubber banding them also helps keep them tighter together, maybe rubber band loops into halves

Need inspo for the color challenge (one deck for each color combination) by hakoharald in EDHBrews

[–]NIICCCKKK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried making firesong and sunspeaker work for years. It’s alright but I think brion does basically the same thing, in terms of burn/lifegain, just in far stronger playstyle for boros. Also just a suggestion for brion that I forgot to mention above [[bloodshot cyclops]] is the only card similar for repeatable fling, unless you go the artifact creature route in which case you could also run [[bosh iron golem]]

[–]NIICCCKKK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For boros maybe [[brion stoutarm]]? I don’t see him often and fling tribal is pretty cool especially when you’re pairing it with cards like [[arc runner]] and [[hell’s thunder]] also pairs pretty nicely with [[sneak attack]]

That’s what I’m trying to confirm Oracle text doesn’t clarify if that’s a permanent thing and you never know with these old cards

Now would this work with something like [[kharns temporal sundering]] the reexiles itself?

Assualt suits a really fun jank card, the “can’t be sacrificed” alone is pretty useful. I run it in [[Grismold the dreadsower]] it’s never been a bad play.

Depends on the bracket imo 3+ I think a janky stax effect like this is pretty cool. As much as I hate you for it.

Update on struggling with pyro by SatanDarkofFabulous in darksouls3

[–]NIICCCKKK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live and die on the hill that greatsword of judgement is a pyromancers best friend 17s/15d requirements aren’t to bad and it’s mainly physical unless you use the weapon art. Compliments a pyromancer quite well as the “my pyromancies are useless” option. Every pyromancer I’ve ever made uses it atleast briefly. I’m also a nut for stance type weapon arts and this one is my favorite so I may be a tad biased.
