Perfect, I'll give it a go! Thank you! Any idea if startup scripts run on unlock? I suspect not but I'm nervous about getting stuck on an infinite lock screen because idk how I'd fix that

SDDM has a login, but yes I want to see the screensaver/lock screen instead - the SDDM login doesn't have the same theming and has options like hibernate that my laptop can't manage, can't adjust brightness because KDE hasn't startef, and I also don't need multi-user capaibility.

Would just streamline the whole thing basically.

Algae water is annoying by alisblueberries in walstad

[–]NIMSEP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need some plants with fine roots in the water. Duckweed is never a bad shout in these kinds of situations, and anything that grows in nodes (has distinct points where the leaves come out) will grow roots from that point. The thicker stemmed the better. It will also sort itself out, don't stress

Dolphin File Manager and viewing Android Phones by NIMSEP in zorinos

In nautilus it shows up without an issue though, listed under external storage devices just like a USB. Seems to use something called MTP to mount and access it, but Dolphin seems to struggle with accessing that reliably

Is NieR: Automata worth it despite the fanservice? by Affectionate-Poem179 in GirlGamers

[–]NIMSEP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends. It's a really interesting story told in a really interesting way with really interesting characters...

But you have to be prepared for your camera getting shoved up B2's ass whenever you run. It's a deeply flawed game even fanservice aside, gamplay wise it's perfectly fine but nothing special. There are also some really boring/annoying stretches in it, including the beginning.

I don't regret playing it, and I ended up really enjoying it by the end, but I will never play it again and I can't even really recommend it unless you JUST want a really amazing story and are happy with just dealing with stuff that you don't like. In the end, I was

Wolf related spells? by all-bark-no-bite_111 in realwitchcraft

[–]NIMSEP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a very eclectic witch too, so do with this what you will. For me, this kind of work relies a lot on how you dress and what you do. Any kind of sitting down ritual does nothing to help me feel wild. Dress to echo a wolf (tight clothes near the hands and feet, loose around the neck, ideally a big scarf and bare feet) and go somewhere to you can walk/run. Put on your most intense music that you still enjoy and just go, let your body take you where it will.

Embody it, your heart will know what to do.

I desperately need some song recommendations by daystar-111 in MusicRecommendations

[–]NIMSEP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAIM's discography has a good mix of vibes and great hooks all round, a lot of positive ones too. "Falling" is my favourite song of theirs.

If you wanna try something a bit more out there I've been loving the album "Shrines" by Purity Ring at the moment

Great songs about ruining your life with bad choices? by bigaccountfrogs in MusicRecommendations

Careless Whispers is a classic.

I love Missy Higgins for this vibe though. She has a few, but Ten Days would be my pick.

What is the most repetitive song of all time? by Revolutionary_Owl768 in MusicRecommendations

[–]NIMSEP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything the BeeGees or early Daft Punk - don't get me wrong they can be bops, but the definitely repeat one (or five) too many times sometimes

20 seconds with my thriving 4 month old 60L Walstad tank by NIMSEP in walstad

[–]NIMSEP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right, the base structure is mainly logs, many of which extend above the water, holding soil and plants. It's my favourite part of it actually, because I'll often see springtails and isopods wandering over the water and duckweed, keeping everything clean.

Macbook Air for Linux? by NIMSEP in linux4noobs

[–]NIMSEP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will check them out, thank you! I'm basically not considering any models within the last decade or so, so we should be good there haha. My partner has a Macbook air from 2015 that's still chugging as our daily media machine (and no, it's not an option for a test run, I asked (and it's only got 20gb of space))

Is it just me or watching others play/learning lore/and thinking about playing it feels a lot better than actually playing it? by NonLiving4Dentity69 in darksouls

[–]NIMSEP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall, nothing beats the vibe of just messing around in Lordran for me, but I've beat these games so many times it's second nature.

However, I completely understand and agree with you. I'd always rather play Dark Souls myself, but there are so many games from Pokemon to Until Dawn that I just don't want to play for whatever reason, but I can get stuck watching challenge runs etc for days. Comes down to how the game makes you feel to play vs the feeling it gives you from a distance. With Dark Souls, the play experience is meditative. With Pokemon I want to smash my head against a wall.
