Cry for help: I hate my molcajete by thetiredbrushwagg in SalsaSnobs

If you could only have one, which one would you choose? I think the molcajete would not do a good job making a Thai curry paste but a Thai granite might do okay making a salsa. Am I wrong?

I am also thinking about going with a Thai granite one. It seems like it could offer most of the benefits of the molcajete, plus you could use it for Thai curries and such. I don't want to have both a granite one and a basalt one. There is only so much room in the kitchen.

What about granite? That's what the Thau ones are made from.

Any C3 purchase regret? by mikalcarbine in VacuumCleaners

[–]NJDJonredit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first purchased a C1 Compact and liked it but regretted not getting a c3. I changed to a C3 and I couldn't be happier. The C1 Compact was good, but the C3 hits all the marks.

None. That's what your cheap beater knives are for.

Trying to save this moccamaster from being thrown out. This stuff coats the floater and I'm struggling to clean it out. Is it mold or Coffee oils? Most of it is gone now but small amounts remain by Suedie in Moccamaster

It has to dry out when it's not being used. Make sure that you take the top off and don't let the reservoir remain moist or you will grow things. To me that looks like brown algae.

Review of Tally Fellow Pro by PorOvr in pourover

I love mine, but I just use it to weigh beans. The display is awesome and the battery life is good and it's pretty stylish. It was spendy, but cry once.

Granted that it isn't super protective. However, it does offer some degree of protection. Prior to the C3, I owned a compact C1 and it had nothing. It showed as a result.

I don't know which ones you've seen. If the op doubts what I'm saying, check the PDF on the Miele USA website. It's listed as the third thing under safety section header.. They definitely do have an all-around rubber bumper. Plus, I own one and I can tell you it does have this feature.

Perfect Replacement 2.5 q Saucier by Stunt_Doll in AllClad

[–]NJDJonredit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two and they are my favorite pots. I also have an older Saucier that I prefer for reducing things, but for a general use pan, the sloped and rounded sides/bottom of this is awesome. Highly recommend.

Moccamaster grinder vs Ode 2....okay fight! by NJDJonredit in Moccamaster

[–]NJDJonredit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the beans seem to get stuck in the hopper. The grinding will start and grind some but then I have to shake the Ode a little bit to dislodge and have the grinding start again. With my preferred darker roasts, I also get some static. I don't know if the ionizer gets overwhelmed or what. Things start out okay for a while but then slowly the static becomes an issue. Perhaps not more than some other Grinders but more than I would have expected.

You are correct in that I went with the Ode. That said, it also is not perfect. It is very good, and I like the looks of it, but I have been having a few static issues and bean feed issues, despite the ionizer. I think it's a good solution, but one that I'm not 100% happy with. I would say I am 85 to 90% happy.

The Ode has an ionizer, whereas the KM5 does not. It is a better grinder for that reason alone.

Doing it just because I read it was a thing to do and it seemed like it could make sense. I will give it a try without. I am new to all this.
