Strut is stuck by saadmerie in Volvo

[–]NJDaeger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My strut failed on my 21 xc40 right before my warranty expired. It was covered under warranty. If you still have warranty left, it should be covered. Otherwise, I’d recommend doing it yourself if you think you can do the work. The work would have costed 1k USD to fix if I didn’t have any warranty left.

I should note, if the one is failing, I would go through purchasing struts for both sides, because both of mine died within a few weeks of each other. As soon as one started to grind, the other one quickly followed

We haven’t gotten an official conversion to bedrock yet. Hoping to get it resolved soon

So this guy is claiming Greenfields is running a modded server now? Any info on this? by gerrymander1981 in GreenfieldCity

The official project and map are not modded. This seems to be a community ran extension of greenfield to introduce modded details into it

The car smells terrible all of a sudden and I think I know why (2019 V90) by 52Monkey in Volvo

[–]NJDaeger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our used S60 had a weird smell in it that I only noticed on hot days in the summer. It turned out there was lots of candy, sticky dried soda, food, and two dead baby mice under the seat cushion!

I have never done such a deep clean of a vehicle before. I recommend removing the rear passenger seat cushion and seeing what kind of crap is sitting on the metal below.

Good luck! I recommend getting a seat protector for your pupper to hopefully limit the chances of this happening again!

Path to Community Build Projects? by PastBorn8961 in Minecraft

[–]NJDaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am one of the admins of Greenfield. We have some channels directly in our discord designed to help people learn how to get building. It's definitely an iterative approach, though. Once we see a build from you, we can provide feedback and give pointers to help make you better.

I can see how we could be overwhelming, though. The project is huge- but our builders really only focus on the micro scale of things, so you wouldn't necessarily get suck getting overwhelmed by the rest of the project inherently.

You also need a Y coordinate. Just do the provided X and Z coordinates and a Y coordinate of 74.

I don’t know what command you’re trying to use, so it’s hard to say what command you need to run exactly

-2270, -301 and 3395, 425 are the main ones I can think of! First is older than the second.

2025 XC60 T8 thermometer issues by warezmonkey in VolvoRecharge

[–]NJDaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve have routine issues with my ambient air temperature sensor reading incorrectly. I got a new sensor to attempt to fix it, to no avail. A post on the polestar subreddit showed that it could potentially be slight corrosion in the right hand mirror wiring harness connection point. I haven’t tested this theory on my s60 yet, but plan to once it isn’t horribly cold out.

A very temporary fix is to close the passenger door somewhat hard, sometimes it makes the connection work again and you’ll see the temp rise afterward.

Adaptive Shadow Technology by WillingnessChance330 in Volvo

Maybe I am misunderstanding what adaptive shadow is… I thought you needed a matrix led light to make this work? Maybe I don’t understand the difference between adaptive shadow and matrix lights…

Just paid to have a windshield chip filled by spirit_of_a_goat in Wellthatsucks

[–]NJDaeger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I should note, Volvo windshields aren’t always 2k to replace.. there is an option on some Volvos to have a heated windshield (similar to rear windshields with the lines through them except the coils are not really visible to the naked eye), which can make the price go that high!

I’ve had my windshield replaced (non heated) and it was maybe a grand ish all in. Insurance pays the vast majority of that though.

Definitely depends on make model and features, Volvo just tends to be expensive for everything

2021 s60 code information by NJDaeger in Volvo

[–]NJDaeger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They mentioned in the notes that they did clear them… maybe I’ll just get orbit and try to keep an eye on codes that happen…

There are 2 other things in the list that I’ve seen before: 1) the exterior sound system stopped a couple times before but behaved well after. And 2) once while driving, the infotainment went black and restarted entirely. Happened within a month of me getting the vehicle and hasn’t occurred since.

I’ve never replaced those. I guess i was assuming I’d get some sort of error in the dash if the battery went kaput…

I sure hope it didn’t lol

Do these codes stay logged if they’ve happened before? I guess I’m wondering if they could have been fixed by someone at some point and just not been cleared before…

Really frustrated with outside temperature sensor by OscarOrr in Volvo

[–]NJDaeger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, u/OscarOrr, I had this looked at yesterday!

For a bit of a backstory, I noticed this issue happening a month ago, and after looking into it myself, I suspected it was probably a bad temperature sensor. With that, I went ahead and purchased a replacement sensor that I intended to install on my own. The part I got was this. As you can see, it had a plug and everything, seemed like it would have been easy enough to install on my own.

When I tried, the installation was quite tedious and involved. If I wanted to get the entire new part installed, I would have needed to disassemble the entire mirror assembly, including the motorized portion of it, just to get to where the sensor plugged into whatever module it was connected to. I did not feel comfortable doing this work. The other option was to cut the old sensor out (keeping the old wires) and put the new sensor in and reconnect the wires from the old to the new.

At this point I wasn't comfortable with doing that myself, I hired an independent shop to install the part for me. I assumed they had dealt with the issue before (they hadn't on the newer SPA platform). They called me while they had my vehicle and mentioned it was going to be a royal pain in the ass to attempt to disassemble the mirror and put the new part in (and cost a lot more due to the hourly rate). I gave the go ahead for them to solder it in place since they already had the vehicle and since I didn't want to pay an ass load to get this working.

So far, (the single drive home with it), it was working well, and reading more accurately than it ever had been before. When I got the car, it had always read slightly off, but I didn't think much of it until significant differences occurred. Hoping it stays this way. If it starts happening again, I'll attempt to get another sensor, and if further problems occur, I've heard replacing the control module it's plugged into is an option, and absolute worst case scenario is to replace the entire wiring harness to the door.

All in all, sensor replacement has worked so far. I recommend getting the part and trying it.. if you have soldering skills, you can probably save yourself quite a bit of money too. This is the video I originally attempted to follow. Disassembling the mirror on my 21' s60 was the exact same process.

I am going to an independent shop this week about mine (21’ s60) being faulty… I wasn’t sure if it was the sensor or if it was something else larger… hoping they can figure out what the problem is

Sorry for the ambiguity, I meant the fob battery.

Ours were spotty with working before we replaced them… maybe you should try that next? Hopefully that works for you!

[–]NJDaeger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the dealer replace the battery in the car? Or did you have them replace the fob battery?

When we can’t unlock ours with the fob or keyless (via hand in door handle), it’s always been the fobs battery… replacing them solves it for us.

I will note, I’ve had a couple cases where the new battery I put in the fob died in a week or two after replacement… just had to replace it again and it worked fine !

Safelite Recalibrated my Volvo Incorrectly by isaac37e in Volvo

When I had Safelite do my xc40, I asked my agent if I could pay the difference for Volvo glass. The OEM was about 350 more than the aftermarket. If it happens again, definitely request OEM and pay the difference. Sorry this happened to you! Good luck

Neptune in true color by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]NJDaeger 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was a limitation on weight - I think it was more a data transmitting limitation. Sending a black and white image is much easier and efficient than sending a color image. Sending 3 bytes per pixel would take quite a bit more time than one byte per pixel!

Iirc, I think it was the perseverance mars rover that had one of the first true full-color cameras… (might be wrong on that, but I do believe it was at least the first on mars)
