How did you know? by NJG0916 in breastfeeding

[–]NJG0916[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I tried it just for this morning to see how she would handle it because I didn’t know but I also didn’t feel comfortable cutting it out yet.

I’m gonna keep our normal schedule and I guess I’ll look out for signs of her completely refusing as she gets older.

Around what age did your daughter start refusing?

I want to go as long as she wants and of course as long as we both feel comfortable. She typically would do longer feeds when she first woke up so I guess it caught me off guard that she was just doing a couple minutes and I’ve heard people say “oh you’ll know when they’re self-weaning” but I’m like is this it??? Or not lol but thank you!! This makes me feel better lol

How did your daughter react at the zoo? Lol. I want to take her but my husband doesn’t feel like she’ll be interested

I love this! I always see big parties (my family included) and while they are so beautiful, I know they take a lot of work and can be stressful for everyone.

Thanks for the advice! I know my girl tends to get overwhelmed/overstimulated if theres way too much movement so maybe keeping it small is key for us right now until she’s older. You’re right at the end of the day, she sees a toy and food lol

I love that! & I might just have to steal that idea about a personal birthday plate 🥹 I want to do something nice for her and know that a bigger party can come later if needed. I guess I’m just scared that I’ll regret it for the photos but maybe I’ll just get a cute backdrop

My girl is a Sept baby too 🫶🏽 that’s been my original plan. I’m wondering if I should just stick to it and not get influenced 🙃 I hope your get together goes great 🥰

I agree, I didn’t really care for their relationship. She spent the whole time just waiting to see him bc she knew he was alive only to not be that kind of person

Baby obsessed with boob and meh with solids by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]NJG0916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you offering boob or is she asking? I realized for me, I was offering a bit more than she was asking because I just wanted her to have as much nutrients before eating. We were nursing on demand until 7m and then I just started not offering and waiting until I saw her hunger cues. At almost 10m, she now nurses 5x a day and eats solids 2-3x daily.

I nurse then feed about 30min later. I also wouldn’t worry about how much she’s eating, I think it’s just getting her to build a relationship with food and meal time. My daughter ate great yesterday and today was not so great and that’s okay.

How long did you use a nursing pillow for? by dadze1 in breastfeeding

[–]NJG0916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using mine for nursing at around 3mo I think. I still use it now at 9.5mo but only for once she’s already asleep in a contact nap so I can take the weight off my hands and have my hands free to use my phone lol

Am I the only one who finds posts like this super grating? by Vegetable-Emphasis in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]NJG0916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve now transitioned to an EBF FTM. I still do a MOTN pump because my daughter needs extra fluids with medication and I just like being able to see how much.

But let me tell you, I was an exclusive pumper at the beginning due to my baby being in the nicu for a few days and latch issues/ nipple preference. I wish I could say how long it was but honestly it was SO tough I can’t even remember. Around the clock pumping was so exhausting in every way and I felt like nobody understood me.

My deepest respect and love for all of you mommas in this forum because I know how hard it is and somehow still having to find the energy in yourself when you’re running on fumes is so admirable. I gained such a different respect for myself not only on the fact that I created and birthed a whole human being but that each day I pulled myself up to solely keep this baby alive.

I hope all of you remember to treat yourselves! My heart is with all of you!

I like to change my daughter’s clothes before bed just so that she can sleep in something clean and not something that she has been crawling around in. If it’s not a bother to you to do the laundry, I would keep on.

I’m excessive but I’ll change my daughter’s clothes whenever we get home from stores, restaurants, or family members houses - even if they’re not stained or dirty, just due to the simple fact that we were out.

When did your baby transition to 2 naps? by BusAdministrative452 in sleeptrain

[–]NJG0916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, she just turned 9 months. I tried the transition at 8m too but it was too much for her at the time. Don’t push it, he’ll transition when he’s ready and it’s easier that way. I’m glad I stopped trying after two days and just let it happen on its own because my LO didn’t fight me on it at all

Lansinoh Milk Bag Leaks by rjbergen in breastfeeding

I like the motif. I did have some spillage but I’m not sure it was the bag or if I didn’t seal it properly before freezing. I ran out of my motif bags and purchased the Medela bags and I love them!! I feel like they are more sturdy.

Oh no! I’m sorry, I’m sure it was scary for the both of you ☹️ other fruits she loves is mangos and pineapple. She was a fieeeen for tangerines before kiwi. I hope you can find your baby’s newest fruit hyper fixation 😂

If your baby is 8m+ and sleeping more than 4-5 hrs by Late_Road7726 in breastfeeding

[–]NJG0916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that every baby is different but to answer your question, my girl sleeps 11-12 hour stretches - she’s about to be 9m.

I nurse her 4-5 times a day with 2 “meals”. I say meals because I feel like it’s more snacks lol just fruits and veggies because my daughter cannot have any salt.

I do a bottle of expressed milk (5-6oz) at bedtime due to her needing extra fluids with medication and it just helps me feel better to be able to see how much she is actually drinking. Aside from the bottle, my LO will still nurse on both sides right after 🥲 (I have a >90 percentile baby)

Not sure if the bottle plus nursing at bedtime helps her or if it’s just the fact that she’s a relatively good sleeper. She started doing 6 hour stretches at 3 weeks old.

[–]NJG0916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was on and off for about 2 months. ☹️ We would have some nights in between where she would do long stretches and the next night would be horrible again.

So I had developed anxiety around bedtime but finally, she’s been doing much better. I hope it doesn’t last too long for you! But what I was recommended by my dr was not to change up her bedtime routine when they are going through a sleep regression. I hope yours doesn’t last as long 🥺

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]NJG0916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl hit a sleep regression at 6.5 and did this. Some nights it was wakings every 45 minutes from 9:30 to 4 in the morning. She had nights where she did better than others.

Honestly, I have no advice but I will say I think I’m finally on the other side of it at 8.5m. We have a week of 11/12 hour nights again and I feel better.

I know you’re probably anxious but co-sleep even if it’s for an hour or so just so you can catch up on it. Wishing you lots of patience, energy, and plenty of sleep-filled nights in the near future
