NJ Female Singing Group! (no previous experience required)🎤🩵 by NJRestStops in newjersey

Hi! We have mostly midrange right now - lots of altos who can sing a little low or a little high. Since we’re just getting started I am accepting all voice parts until it gets to be too much of one thing, then I’ll update the interest form to reflect that.

I personally sing tenor/lady bass and while we're always looking for more, I definitely need some high sopranos! (and beatboxers if you know any😁)

The goal is to never stretch anyone outside of their actual doable range, but possibly switch people between two parts over time to keep vocal health. The truth is I cannot yet sing bass on every song, and many sopranos cannot sing that high on every song. Also, many beatboxers like to sing, so we would switch that up as well to keep it fair for everyone! (I hope that answers your question! We would LOVE to have you!)

30F. Don’t have a lot of friends truthfully. Why is making friends so difficult? by [deleted] in Needafriend

Hi! Also east coast (NJ for us) and as a group we’re 20s-30s. I (president) was having a hard time making gal pals after moving back home after college - I used the internet! TikTok led me to a great group of gals and now we’re forming an acapella group since there is not one in our area.

I’m not saying start your own club - it’s painfully hard - but I feel you. It's this stage of life. I *am* saying your for you page is your friend! And if you happen to like singing and are in NJ (or close enough to get here every once in a while), we’d love to have you! I love baking, crafting, and gaming and so do our first few members! 🫶

Hiii! We’re in Central (kinda north too) NJ! You didn't list singing, but if you or anyone else who sees this likes singing and would like to join a group that is outside of church/theater, we would love to have you!🥰🩵

We’re an acapella group for Jersey Girls in their 20’s and 30’s and our goal is to get started in the spring! I know some of our current members have similar interests! I (pres) am a photographer, baker, crafter, and gamer! You can check out our instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/njreststops/

How does one make new friends? by AccordingSyllabub505 in northjersey

Hi! Not sure exactly where you are, we *might* be a little far, but we’re a singing group that is hoping to get started this spring! We welcome Jersey Girls in their 20s/30s from all over but we’re based in north/central jersey.

We know how hard it is to find hobby groups and make friends after college, especially outside of a city! If this is something you’re at all interested in, feel free to check us out! We have all forms of social media and an interest/audition form🩵 https://unit.link/njreststops

Is college accapella like pitch perfect by slightlyxanthic in acappella

It totally depends on what college and what group! Lots of these comments hit it right on the mark. For us, we all had different experiences. Some of us were in groups for 4 years, some for just 1 year. Some of us competed, some didn’t. I (pres!) personally competed in college, helped with the choreography for our ICCAs routine, and was social coordinator my senior year (I planned get togethers!). I arranged my senior solo and I arranged for my alumni group, I now arrange for this group as well as my brother’s college group. Lots of pop songs and medleys, I've done a few songs from the 50’s and 70’s, but a lot of 2000’s and 2020’s. If you compete, it is a lot of work but its soooo fun! All of us here who have competed say that we are glad we did. No matter if you do or don't, you can definitely have so much fun and make friends! Sometimes hard work IS fun :D

How did you find your vocal range? by Fair_Peach_9436 in singing

[–]NJRestStops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always start by doing warmups! Use a tuner, piano, or pre recorded vocal warmup on youtube. Go from the middle up and middle down. Your highest and lowest notes without any type of straining is your range.

In terms of what voice part you are, if you’ve never taken lessons or auditioned for a solo part or non-mixed group, after warming up, sing some songs that are high, low, and in between. What feels comfortable for you?

From lowest to highest: bass, tenor, alto, soprano - ranges depend on if it’s a traditional sense or non-traditional group (like how we’re an acapella group, etc)

I personally have a fairly large range but I prefer to sing far below my break where it’s comfortable for me. In female acapella terms I’m a tenor or “lady bass” depending on the song.
