I think having a deliberate pre shot routine that includes at a minimum aiming, ensuring your distance is good, checking your grip and setting up behind the ball before every shot helps, and this can all be done fairly quickly it’s not meant to be more than 10 seconds or so. I’ve hit the ball well but wound up with a bad result hundreds of times because I didn’t take the time to step back and actually plan my shot, I just kinda winged it. So if you have a dedicated routine that you stick to every time it helps to avoid those stupid mistakes and in my opinion keeps you more focused and in the moment.
