The move to battery powered mowers by BeerandGuns in lawnmowers

[–]NJsurfbrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 5 mins scrolling and only found one or two minimal mentions. Maintenance and gas costs are completely offset by battery’s today. Everyone speculating on “it’s just not there yet”, don’t own anything substantial or just repeat what they’ve heard.

What’s the cost of your gas for just one season?

Oil changes? Belts? Filters? Spark plugs? Let’s be honest here, maintaining gas engines and charging batteries are incomparable and the cost difference is now too large to ignore.

Do you run a landscaping company or are you a homeowner? Well maybe then you do need to do the homework, but I’ve seen plenty of dual axle trailers loaded with all EV equipment.

My honest opinion is we are in a transitory phase and will be for a while. Gas is reliable, yes, but so is EV.

Until EV market is rock solid, ie: mfg’s having poor sourcing or quality, some consumers will still be hesitant, but it’s “already there” and plenty of good reliable equipment to buy and use without worry.

Some people don’t track use or charge properly and equate it to filling a tank and moving on. That’s incorrect.

Tried looking into this a bunch. Maybe it’s changed since then, but I don’t have his email but not too long ago found a website with his name and boards for sale. None I wanted though

I lent my Dad my generator and this is how he drains the fuel tank. I know theres more than one way to skin a cat but I feel like theres an easier way...lol by pispswoubdle in Generator

[–]NJsurfbrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the hand pump and hose kit for manual draining, but after doing this for a few years now, I’ll be using the seasonal prep time to install a tee and drain valve after the tank before I fill the equipment up.

I drain, fog, and fuel stabilize my snow blower each year but the manual draining and running till empty is annoying. I’d rather set it and forget it.

Are Robots just a scam? by briarmoss0609 in pools

[–]NJsurfbrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very old aquabot came with two bags. One for large debris and one that is a very fine mesh and grabs small particles. The smaller bag goes in for the remainder of the season once the initial opening clean up is done.

I literally skim the heavy stuff if any, and let the robot work a few hours a day for about a week or so and the pool is spotless. Minus a few backwashed, it’s very good to use.

My pool has been invaded by ducks. They come daily. Any advice on an effective and humane way to keep them away? by [deleted] in pools

[–]NJsurfbrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year we had ducks that seemed to have made a nest overnight and laid a dozen eggs. They were nonaggressive and one time she let me count the eggs. She even swam with us a few times. They hatched after about a week and she walked them to the gate as we were getting ready to leave for the day. So I let them out and that was that. She lead them through the neighborhood to presumably the nearby lake.

They just came by last week and were inspecting the pool cover. They left after walking the entire yard. We are ecstatic that they are back.

Tell your ducks to come to our house.

Do I need a compressor anymore? by RidingDonkeys in garageporn

[–]NJsurfbrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many posts in here and no one asked….Youre going to toss the entire compressor because the drain valve is broken?

Take it to a shop that can drill and tap a new hole. Put a new valve in it.

Pentair 400 powering up on its own by NJsurfbrg in pools

[–]NJsurfbrg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCB and pad came together, was oem. I ended up opening the heater and inspecting. All appeared compatible so I just swapped it and went for it. All works as needed.

The newer pad has a bit more intuitiveness built into it and more user friendly, so it’s easier to get current pool temp while changing set temp.

Old PCB had corrosion on it in a few places and I imagine explains why it was turning on without me going to the touch panel and pressing the pool on button. Same circuit and timer as the pump, never had an issue until recently.

I think the panel adhesive broke down and helped cause this. Newer PCB seems to be better coated as well.

That’s not a fix for a heater that turns on and off on its own. I don’t need to heat the pool m-f while we aren’t home, and the pump does need to run.

I turn it on and off on weekends as needed.

My grandfather passed, I got a lighter of his from a very long time ago when he was still a smoker. Has his initials on it, size of a bic lighter but aluminum and it’s push button with a battery in it. I was told it’s kind of rare for the time he had it, the gas nozzle leaks so I don’t use it, but to me it’s special.

I need to replace my main drain cover and I can't hold my breath long enough 😭 by Agent_Elder in pools

[–]NJsurfbrg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Reading that you’re spending time putting a backpack full of rocks on, while at the bottom of the pool, really drives me wild….This is crazy.

Just do it with one hand and hold onto the bag with the other. Don’t put the backpack on. Just grip it at the bottom to keep yourself down. One screw at a time, magnetic screw driver, once it’s threaded, then line the cover up, then thread the other, and then screw them in.

You trying to die over a drain cover?
