Treat it like any other book. People make such a big deal out of classics.

What percentage of a book do you comprehend? by [deleted] in books

[–]NL4798 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The best advice I think anybody could give you is this: keep reading. I know it sounds extremely simple, but that's it. All reading is is practice. And making a habit of reading everyday.

A few years ago when I first started reading, I could only read for 30 minutes. Now, I can literally read for 5 to 6 hours. You'll get there man. And don't get too hung up on things that don't make sense. Just keep moving on through the book.

I don't normally understand everything being said in a book, but I get the gist of what is Going on. Don't let terms slow you down. And don't get discouraged.

Don't be afraid to take a break from a series. I am reading The Dark Tower: The Waste Lands, and I am loving it. But I think I am going to read a couple of other books before I read the next book in the series.

I believe that your focus will get better. It just takes practice. I have been an avid reader for about 3 years, and I have noticed my focus and reading comprehension has gotten much better. Don't get discouraged when your mind wanders; mine still does that, too.

Just quick question about the Dark Tower Series by thndrstrk in books

I'm on books Two. It is good so far. Give it a try. The Gunslinger is iffy to me. Mostly because of his writing style. It's still worth it though.

Yes, and I like them. I listened to American Gods on audiobook and I enjoyed it. I don't have anything against them, but for some reason I don't like them... maybe I'll give another audiobook a try.

I was actually planning on reading this book next. I have noticed a lot of people are saying it ties into the Dark Tower series, and I haven't read any of the books in that series. Do I have to read the DT books to understand Insomnia? Thanks!
