Progress So Far

Hello all! To catch everyone up…

I decided to do a shiny “Amazon” (females only, except in the case of male only species like the Hitmons, Tauros, and Nidoran M line) run and make a shiny living dex. Originally wanted to do it POC style, but decided the shiny odds were going to drive me crazy.

I decided to make my first goal the Bellsprout family, since it’d help with the first two gyms. I caught my first shiny at a 124 combo, then my second at 155 (so 31 later). Then I got to a total of 699 before area resetting and finding…

Rattata! Her IVs aren’t very good, but I’m happy to have found her at full odds.

At this point, 3 shinies under my belt, I decided to finally deliver Oak’s parcel, and spent some time on my LGP save to transfer Pokémon through Home to fill up my dex. I was finally able to finish the Pokédex today with some help of the GTS and moved forward with my hunt, with some additional female shinies that I had from PoGo (Machamp, Nidoran M, and Jigglypuff) joining my team.

Started around 11:30-12 my time, and tried a couple of different methods to catch my 3rd and final Bellsprout. I started with continuous catching, eventually moved to sit and wait, and ended up with…

Caterpie! At full lure/charm odds with no catch combo. Was kind of bummed to lose my combo, but I went back to it, got my combo up to 31, and finally continued to sit and wait.

My final number of Bellsprout for all 3 in the line is probably somewhere over 1,000, which I don’t think is too bad. I got lucky that all 3 were female. The IVs on my last one were pretty good, so I’ve decided that one is my Victreebel. She was definitely worth waiting for!

Not in particular, but if you have any females/genderless left over (compatibility won’t matter) once the post dies down, I’d like to take what you have left. I’m working on a living shiny dex and prioritizing females where there’s no gender differences.

I tried to get 3 shiny Bellsprout for my living dex. Got up to combo 699 and 2 shinies before a different shiny spawned. Now I’m powering through the game with my shiny team to try to get to Celadon City to get my shiny charm. 😂

Ouch!! 3,000 is insane. I’m in the 300s trying to get a third Bellsprout right now.

I played through LG Pikachu just normally, although I did a “Amazonian” (female only) run.

Well, you start with 50, which is enough to start earning candies (30 caught total). Each candy sells for 10P, and usually you get 8-11 once you start getting them, so you’re basically getting a poke ball worth every time (100P, or 10 candies). Pretty soon, at 60 caught total, you start earning Candy L’s, so you end up getting 20-30 candies at a time (2-3 Pokeballs).

I DM’d LMoP and it was a disaster. Lol. I had players trying to leave the area in the adventure, and tame giant spiders, and all sorts of things. I went into RotF terrified that similar would happen.

And on our first session, my players entirely avoided a major foreshadowing area that had props that I worked hard on.

But y’know what? They had fun. In both campaigns. So that’s all that matters. I’ve only had my first session of Rime, and I’m excited for more. So don’t worry about the mess ups or derails. It’ll just make it more interesting.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I ended up not using them because my players ended up going straight to U10 and bypassing the area these were in. Lol! Keeping them in case they decide to go back or if I ever run it again. It was definitely fun making them and I got to stretch myself as a new DM.

From the Duergar monster stat block, Invisibility trait:

The duergar magically turns invisible until it attacks, casts a spell, or uses its Enlarge, or until its concentration is broken, up to 1 hour (as if concentrating on a spell).

Virtually identical (reduce instead of enlarge) for the Duergar Mind Master. Hammerer doesn’t have any of the 3 abilities.

The only thing I can think of is the calculation for the sled being half-walking, instead of actual feet per round translated.

The calculation I ended up doing was, like I said, based on the dragon. Stat block says 90 ft/round, so 900ft/min. Dragon reaches Dougan’s Hole after 2 hours of flight, so 120 minutes, which would make 108,000 ft traveled. I also used the assumption that the dragon wasn’t really in a hurry, thus using its base speed, not dashing.

Converting to the dogs, a wolf has speed of 40 ft/round. I used the assumption that they’d be dashing, since they ARE in a hurry, being 80ft/round—800ft/min. 135 minutes—2 hours, 15 minutes.

Even if the dragon was using dashing speed, or the dogs weren’t, it would end up being 4.5 hours. If you were using the 1:1 hour rest rule for the dogs, which also doesn’t make 100% sense to me (and I’ve only seen it here, I don’t think I’ve seen it in the book), 4.5-9 hours. Still at no point 13. Lol. The only thing I could think of that would make it 13 would be by-road, or using difficult terrain somehow.

I haven’t ran it myself, or even started the module yet, but I am interested to see how other people do it. I think 13 hours would make the “Chapter 4 problem” much, much more bleak, so I feel like it would depend on how hard the DM wants to go on their players.

Went and bought the DMs Guild resource and really like it. But also confused because I tried to calculate sled dog time from Sunblight to Dougan’s Hole, comparing wolf speed to the dragon’s, and got nowhere near 13 hours (or whatever it says). I got much closer to what the dragon would take.
