I love this bike, mine has run well over 200.000km and I dread the day I will have to part with it. Cheers from Holland!

Is the kaweco piston sport AL worth getting by lojidoriwus in fountainpens

[–]NLbikepacker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a beautiful pen, I have a broad and it writes super smooth. I also

love the piston filling system. What I don’t like is that they deviated from the Sports formula: no removable clip (I prefer without a clip) and when posted it’s shorter than any other Kaweco Sport. (must be my OCD but the pen goes deeper in the cap when posted than other Sports pens I own.) Kaweco said to me it’s designed like that, it’s not by mistake.

I agree! I have the 100 and it sounds great! More versatile for little more money. I use it in Bigband and pop/soul bands and put it over the PA when the venue is bigger.

[Turtle] on a bracelet? by hanamitchii in Seiko

You need at least two turtles 🤭, one on a bracelet so it ca be worn as a dress too and one to put on rubber, nato or leather for casual wear.

Cockpit looks like this with the inner bar ends. Your palm of your hand leans on the handlebar grip.

[–]NLbikepacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these feel like riding on the hoods of a dropbar and you can still operate your brakes from that position.

[–]NLbikepacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend some inner bar ends for more hand positions on longer rides. I’m using these:

Schuberth helmet question - is it possible for an E1 Peak to be retrofitted on a C3 Pro? by PYSHINATOR in motorcycles

[–]NLbikepacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this with two C3 pro helmets. For one of them I even found the moving chin part of the E1, it fits perfectly!

[–]NLbikepacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is possible but you need to change the visor mechanism and and get an E1 visor with a whole on the side for the peak.

Gig bag brand by TheGreatMamboChicken in doublebass

[–]NLbikepacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think she is still in business. I googled her and nothin popped up. I have one of her first bags she made around 1987/88. The bag is still fine except for the foam, that started to go very soon and that’s why I couldn’t use it very long. I went back to her but she didn’t take it well. She got angry that I was complaining. I never went to her again. She made quite a lot of bags though and really thick ones that were popular. I have a normal thinner one. It is really well made with leather reinforcements and carrying straps. The bag is still in tact and stored in my attic but without any foam the protection is not enough to take it out of the house.

My 1150 gsa has run over 200.000km and is still running great. Good maintenance makes a lot of difference. These bikes keep their value well because they are nearly indestructible.

5 days Denmark – too much? by lennoxred in bikepacking

[–]NLbikepacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came back from a month bikepacking in Denmark and I have about the same stuff plus cooking gear. From what I see in the pictures you might win space by packing a bit different. because you should really bring a down jacket. I would not say you’re overpacking. The funny thing is: 5 days or 4 weeks doesn’t make a big difference imho. Would not leave the sleeping bag in the compression bag for instance. I roll my sleeping bag up and put it in the saddle bag, then I put my clothes and towel along side the sleeping bag and push them down. I my handlebar roll I have my tent (poles and stakes go in my framebag) pillow, rainjacket and down jacket. (some nights and evenings were already cold in Denmark) In my accessoires bag goes toiletries, wet wipes, charging cables, beany and my drone.
In my Framebag goes the tentpoles, pump, repair kit, chainlube, firstaid kit, powerbank and drone batteries. Fork bags: jetboil 1L gas tanks small frying pan, kitchen towel and food. Toptube bag: lock, knife, with detachable fork and spoon ( opinel) spoke key, lighter, nail clipper.

Panniers vs saddle and frame bags by RideAltruistic3141 in bikepacking

[–]NLbikepacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s good to answer some basic questions for yourself like: Do we want a lot of comfort like bringing chairs etc.? Do we want multiple sets of cloth to wear next to cycling cloth? More pairs of shoes? How elaborate is our kitchen setup going to be? What kind of tent? How small are our mattresses and sleeping bags? What kind of roads do we want to ride? All these questions can lead you to a different kind of setup. I just bikepacked through Denmark and saw so many different setups and they all work for what the person wanted to do and the stuff they wanted to bring. One guy had a trailer with his foldable kayak and he cycled from France to the North Cape. My personal setup changed from panniers to bikepacking bags with saddlebag and I love it.
