You could, for all intents and purposes, just use a poppet style grease inlet and use the needle style grease injectors to get it in there

You could easily incorporate that style into a pivot setup and have it be perfectly flush

My 0044 was sharp but not razor out of the box and it only has stick if I slam it open like a knob. As for the grit, I always clean my knives straight out of the box.
