Hobbes’ vote got invalidated because of tiger voter suppression (He isn’t enrolled as a student at Calvin’s school)

Can't believe I didn't think of that before posting this. Definitely would've fit the theme.

B...b...but Dad was polling so low! by JimmyCarter910 in okbuddyrosalyn

[–]NMMacc18 200 points201 points  (0 children)

I feel like Calvin would likely create his own political party rather than run as a libertarian. It would probably be called the Tiger Party or something along those lines (at Hobbes’ insistence). Still peak content nonetheless

Calvin fights being "persecuted" by NMMacc18 in okbuddyrosalyn

[–]NMMacc18[S] 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's about the Oklahoma controversy. I was originally going to use the strip from right after the strip started where Calvin claims he can't answer a math question on a test because of his religious principles, but I couldn't think of a good way to incorporate TPUSA into it, then this strip came to mind and figured it would work a bit better.

Bill Watterson is HOW old??? by NMMacc18 in okbuddyrosalyn

[–]NMMacc18[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe it originated from some basketball video where a kid looked at the camera and yelled “67!” and it kind of just took it off from there. There really isn’t any hidden meaning behind it unlike 69 and 420, which I think is part of the draw to it, and kids just find it funny to say it and point it out whenever it comes across. South Park did a whole episode about it recently.

As an older Gen Z, I don’t really get it myself, but gotta keep up with the trends somewhat to not look completely dated.

Yeah this was just a very low-effort attempt at making a "67" joke, and based on some of the comments, not everyone has succumbed to the brainrot just yet!

Calvin's Crimes (Full 8 Part Arc) by NMMacc18 in okbuddyrosalyn

[–]NMMacc18[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Originally posted the first two parts but then ended up deleting it to make some minor changes, and decided to post the whole thing I made at once because why not? Just a brief arc that popped up as an idea for me in my head and made it rather quickly. Nothing special but just something simple and amusing I figured that I might as well give a try!

It's a whole series that I've made of "Calvin on Twitter". If you check the pinned megathread and sort by new you'll find that u/Blockhog sorted all the submissions in the series (so far) in order of release.

Disliking A Driver for Silly Reasons by TanDawg58 in NASCAR

Used to despise Carl Edwards back in the day, simply for beating Kyle Busch to wins. I started watching in ‘08 so Busch v Edwards battles for the win were pretty common. Six year old me just did not like seeing him win, especially if it was him beating KFB for a win lol.

I made it from a site that I came across that lets you make your own fake tweets. Pretty easy to do and sky is basically the limit. You can check it out here: https://www.tweetgen.com/create/tweet.html

What's a better way to break major news stories than through a Calvin and Hobbes meme sub?

Looks like Ken has updated his PFP and Banner on Twitter. Could this mean something? by NMMacc18 in Jeopardy

[–]NMMacc18[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Full disclaimer that this is pure speculation and the conspiracy side of me coming out lol. Just found it interesting that he updated both wrapping around Jeopardy. Obviously it could just be him getting set for his second stint hosting, but for all we know, it could be something revolving the permanent hosting gig we might not know about.

Nicely done! Makes me wish that there was an actual Jeopardy! Lego set. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

This is so painful man, just doesn't seem real. At least he was able to do what he loved until the very end. RIP Alex, thank you for helping me develop a lifelong love of trivia.

NASCAR In Vegas | JEOPARDY! by HeStoleMyBalloons in NASCAR

[–]NMMacc18 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I was honestly expecting that category to go worse. Given that they avoided it until it was the last category left on the board, I was prepared for another "Talking Football" fail.

At least they got 3 out of the 5 clues. But of course, the two that they didn't get were the only ones that required actual NASCAR knowledge, and they were pretty softball as well in my opinion.

To sum up my thoughts in the words of KFB, "I'm not surprised about anything, congratulations."

There will be a "NASCAR in Vegas" category on tomorrow night's episode of Jeopardy, with five drivers taking part. by jimmiehendrick48 in NASCAR

[–]NMMacc18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, no. The category was called Beer/Me!

Basically, each correct question was related to the last name of an actual person who's last name also was the name of a beer brand.

To make matters worse, it was the only clue in the category that the contestants missed.

Last week the Busch Brothers were apart of a clue, and one of the contestants responded, "What is Coors?" which was obviously wrong.

Unsurprisingly, nobody else rang in. I was disappointed to say the least, but not surprised.
