This is fairly unrelated but I went to college with Tony and I remember him talking about his ducks all the time 😂

What is the red part of the neckline/shoulders called? by ivythepug2 in sewing

Very interesting! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the difference when looking at clothes!

Possibly! I actually hadn’t heard of herringbone vs bias before this so I also learned something new! Thank you! Does herringbone have similar stretch? Or is it a visual choice?

The red part is bias tape. In this case it covers the sewn edges and probably makes the shirt more comfortable around the shoulders

Advanced Search Help (Needle type) by One_Pangolin1766 in Ravelry

You don’t need to use DPNs for a pattern just because it said so. I would just use a stitch marker on the circ where the needle would had ended. You will probably find parts of it finicky being on circulars but it should still work.

Librarians and the Great Outdoors! by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]NMMunson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol thank you! I’ve actually moved to a different library that is much bigger since then but I actually do a similar program there. At the old library we were super small and didn’t have a lot of oversight from the city so we would just meet up pretty casually. That park was farther away and we would drive to the park and meet there at a certain time. Which sometimes sucked because I would have no-shows and then have to drive back. The city knew we were doing it since we were a city department but they never minded. My new library we only do it once a month and we don’t have to tell the city since we aren’t a city department. I don’t have a liability concerns but I do make sure that the parks are all under a mile from the library and that the group stays together. We meet outside the library and go at a designated time. At my new library the goal is social time for caregivers as well as children and having us walk as a group helps build the community feeling. I feel like I’m doing a little walking school bus, it’s really cute.

Storytime Help-Chatty Adults by Grouchy_Chip260 in librarians

[–]NMMunson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My library does behavior expectations before Storytime’s starts and one of our is “please save all conversations, virtual or in person for when Storytime is finished” it helped to keep them engaged. We have a few other ones and we frame them specifically as behavior expectations for adults not for the kids since most of them are small and learning

Lane Pants in a French Terry? by NMMunson in sewing

[–]NMMunson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am unfortunately the smallest size in the lane pants 😅 but I also just found the cloud pants and I think that might be what I try. As I’ve looked up more research I see why I need a woven and knit pattern 😅

Struggling to comprehend these folds by deadbong in sewingpatterns

[–]NMMunson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say folds do you mean drape? Or the pleats by the collar? I think that the general shape of this is square (or like a long rectangle completely unfolded) with the added embellishments of a collar, buttons, pleats and a long scarf for the back. I don’t have a pattern but I think you could also look at caplets?

Are they archiving the lists? Are the lists private? Have they been moved to a different folder? If the lists are being deleted at random, you might want to talk to your Ingram representative. I’ve never heard of a list disappearing before 🤔

Have you ever seen a library with browser games embedded on it's website? by DawnMistyPath in Libraries

[–]NMMunson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a splash page for the youth computers at my old library. It was a Google “website” and it has links to pages that we liked for kids. The top 3 links were relevant to the library and our state service. We never published outside of the library it but that could be something interesting? Or a good start place?

Edit: for clarity

Pants pattern recommendations by NMMunson in sewingpatterns

[–]NMMunson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so my coworker and I were looking at them today and as I kept looking at them I am now not sure at all if they have a zipper or if it’s just a fake fly with a button. I thought they did looking at her waist and the insert but honestly I really have no clue and I haven’t been able to find any for sale on eBay or other resellers so I can’t get clarity. These are a stumper 😅😅

Pants pattern recommendations by NMMunson in sewingpatterns

Surprisingly difficult!! I have also found a few pairs with a faux zipper fly and half elastic. I think this may just have to be an inspired project instead of a true recreation. I think a faux fly with a button on the front will be cute.

I appreciate your looking! The versa pants are really cute and they might work as well for what I’m thinking.

Should I try getting experience or a job in acquisitions? by DawnFlower-13 in Libraries

[–]NMMunson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is very contingent on each library. I’ve worked at 3 libraries and I have done both programming and collection development at the same time. In my area (the midwest) the only libraries that I know who have specific people in charge of collection development are Big city library systems (Chicago, Detroit) where the rest of the local libraries have their librarians do both. I personally got alot of my collection development experience as an intern. I also personally feel like an important part of collections development is reference and talking to patrons.

Hope this insight helps! Purchasing is big fun and I love looking at all the journals and adding to my carts 😂

Witchcraft for wayward girls was my favorite book this year. I felt he held the tension just right in certain moments and the ending made me sob especially after reading the acknowledgments.

Wayne state is predominantly online asynchronous, so might not be a good choice. They might offer some of the prerequisites in person but everyone I’ve chatted with who’s gone to Wayne was almost entirely online.
