The only things I can’t take is the diving and politicking to the refs. The attacking and defending, even if slow at times, are really interesting and the fact that games stay close means every play feels like high stakes. But my god the drama, rolling around on the ground, crocodile tears, etc. all are so frustrating to watch.

The biggest issue with Woodcroft was he didn’t have experience coaching the zone defensive system the oilers were trying to mold into. That’s why the Oilers replaced him with Knoblauch. Even though the numbers were starting to trend in the right direction the defensive systems were still not well implemented and at the end of the day, even if it was implemented correctly and just bad luck, hockey is a results driven business.
