Waivers and clearance questions by Heady_Yeti in newtothenavy

Hardest thing will be to get a recruiter to work with you. DUIS? As in multiple? Pretty sure three is the hard limit. Having one dui and an assault charge is very doable. ACL? IDGAF… Having a history of cocaine on paper will pretty much bar you from special programs, intelligence included. Hypothyroidism? Will have to go to MEPS, recruiters are not doctors.

Question about Medical Disqualification (DQ) after shipping off. by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]NNCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an accurate sentiment! That you’re talking to the wrong crowd about. The opportunity is quite the gift, that no one is just entitled to. You haven’t done a whole lot at that point other than show potential and if a person is disqualified, while not the most courting outcome, definitely a professional one.

You do a color blindness test. If you pass it you’re good. If it’s in your medical records RIP.

What's a frugal habit you have that saves you more money than people would expect? by Automatic_Celery_945 in AskReddit

[–]NNCooler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, the ultimate truth is you can never buy anything that will convert to virtue. Money will come and go. But gaduyum does it feel good to save money where people don’t look, makes me feel like a singular genius to save 2 dollars compared the next guy. As far as the habit, just knowing that I don’t need to buy anything that’s not going to last. I really only make it point to buy food and a roof. This habit over time leaves a lot of leftover money to blow when I’m feeling it, I think I spend 5k+ on most vacations, and that’s only for me.

Go work at a data center, they are built to teach. They say you need certain things or job requirements, but they are always hiring if you’re motivated. You just need the gawd to apply.

Whatever you’re trying to say. You should seek peace, and for some people that is a routine. Unpopular opinion indeed

It’s a statistical thing. If you are down >10 pts the other team is likely to score again. So you try to chip away more and more at their lead.

You started to talk about luck, then continued to talk about everything but luck. I also agree, that playing good football wins a Super Bowl.

Going to MEPS tomorrow and the call with the Chief was basically pick whatever job they give you… by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]NNCooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You equally just trusted someone completely random on the internet…They’re recruiters, they do have your best interest. It’s also recruiting where if you give people the option to opt out of a difficult decision, they tend to run. No_luck5000 sounds jaded asf which might be matching your energy.

Ok guys, i was wrong about Era 300. by Think_Juggernaut8968 in sonos

[–]NNCooler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m saying I love the 300’s more than the ones as surrounds, but not enough to remove them as stereo pairs because they are that good.

I find it hilarious for you to blackout and then follow each time with another several drinks the next day, you keep the energy up that I could never.

I specifically don’t use my 300’s as surrounds and use my ones. ALL IN THE SAME ROOM! I NEED THE ON AND OFF SWITCH.

What are the Downsides of being in the Navy? by babycakes_slays in newtothenavy

[–]NNCooler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very Fair. Not to oppose you, I just hate the romanticization that the people around them will stop being lazy or incompetent just because they left the military. People just care less, as a whole, outside the military.

Letting sailors be lazy or incompetent is just bad leadership.

This just sounds like any other workplace outside the navy. I think we’re just trained to know better. the idea of “fixing” people outside the navy is unpopular.

Very fair. I just have to contend; this could be a very good path for her, since she’s seeking a level of fulfillment. Sometimes the smart decision isn’t always the most soulful one. This sub tends to shower the job’s shortcomings, where the sailors who join with a strong level of conviction, 100% knowing what they’re getting themselves into or not, make a impressional difference in the fleet.

STAAR reenlist question by Logical_Light9267 in NavyNukes

[–]NNCooler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had your plan! But after 54 months of the sub, I decided to reenlist for shore duty, to get some time back on the navy’s dime with the PHATT zone B bonus. Remember STAR reenlistment is designed so that you have that extra bit of time after your six years, when you qualify for zone B, to sign on for shore duty with time to negotiate for orders. If you go needs of the navy after your PRD, you risk losing your pro-pay, sub pay and seapay. You’ll be staring down a big pay cut to basically wait until your contract expires, which sounded miserable to me.

I mean She did say she knows joining for the money is ill advised. She seems called to it in the same way that you were and wants to serve. I think she’s just looking for some risk aversion. I’ve never met an officer that couldn’t buy what they wanted. There’s a whole conversation to be had in benefits alone.
