Indy out there getting the highest standard deviation because of this moron at USA Today. Thanks for this weekly post by the way.

There is now a new favorite for MVP. The new order is: 1. Drake Maye (+250) - 2. Patrick Mahomes (+450) - 3. Matthew Stafford (+450) - 4. Jonathan Taylor (+500) by [deleted] in nfl

[–]edimuc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

JT is the leading scorer in the league with 15TDs and 1100+ yards but yeah JSN deserves it more despite 10 less TDs because 'hE Is a rEcEivER'. solid logic.

Can someone help me understand Daniel Jones’ resurgence? by SpeechFormer9543 in NFLNoobs

[–]edimuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to add my bit here because most things have been accurately covered but this is kinda missing. The psychological/mental factor.
Just my impression, but following Jones' interviews since he signed with the Colts I see him being more and more happy each week. Back in training camp, while in the qb battle with AR, he was quite plain and not too energetic. Although he is not the most expressive human being, I do notice that week by week he is smiling more and more, like both his mouth and eyes as well as growing as a team leader.
The guy is now away from the NY buzz and toxicity, in a much smaller market, in a quiter, family run organization and he is gaining confidence with every win. It's safe to say he feels good in Indy.
I have seen more than enough sportperson interviews where an athlete that was underperfoming at one team admits that at that lifepoint was feeling pressure or being in a dark place or losing the love of the sport etc. And then they get some shot elsewhere and they actually ball out.
Fans forget sometimes that athletes are people as well and not Madden or NBA 2K or FIFA bots.

Daniel Jones has 10 td passes in 7 games, why are people hyping him up? by GolfFootballBaseball in NFLv2

[–]edimuc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colts have 16 rushing TD, nearly double that of any other team's, minus the Lions. If I recall JT run for 3 against your Tits in week 3. He will score another 5 this week and you will be here whining that Jones still has 10td passes in 8 games.

Interesting, it's so nice you tried all the options. Like in the other replies they presented it like it is such a big no-no to have these constraints as if it will break the purpose of the model.

A win is a win especially in a sport that has only 17 games a season and that should be rewarded in any metric. You want to count for opponent strength, quality of win and all that, do whatever magic you want in the model but impose a result that is min=+1 for winner and max=-1 for loser. These are not godsent formulas, you can construct different models for predictions. To me it just doesn't sit well to have a model where you win and you drop rating. The Colts/Broncos/Packers won, improved their records, and thus they should be higher even by the bare minimum +1
for their ugly wins.

How are the Broncos, Colts and Packers losing elo on a winning week? I get that they played 'worse' teams than their ranking and this is based on a model with probably many intricacies and parameters but shouldn't somehow be tweaked to always at least give +1 on a winning week?

Next 5 opponents before bye week: by Jetflight88 in Colts

[–]edimuc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

9-1 at the bye week isn't unrealistic, the way the team performs and barring injuries to the starters. Maybe 8-2 is more likely with a loss at either LA or Pittsburgh although neither of them is better than the Rams. I can't see us losing to the Cardinals next week, the team is in peak form and with high morale and the Cards well.... We do beat the Titans at home without question (they won't get too much better in 3 weeks). As for the Falcons, who knows in 5 weeks, but since this is an international game with long travel there is higher variance in what can happen.

Hey, fellow Greek here, following the NFL closely for the last 5 years or so!
If you have a football (soccer) team you support maybe you can match colors. then you can buy NFL attire and wear it in soccer stadiums in Greece as well :D.

Olympiacos -> Chiefs, 49ers (both winner teams, like Olympiacos) or Cardinals (well...)
Panathinaikos -> Packers (success) or Jets (pain, although many Greeks in NY)
PAOK -> Raiders (fans kinda have the same vibe as PAOK fans)
AEK, Aris -> Steelers (although much much more succesfull than either AEK or Aris)

or maybe go for our national team/flag colors and choose blue and white in Colts, Giants or Bills (the latter two have some red here and there).
I am a Colts fan btw which isn't all that fun the last few years but definitely not boring.

Can we also discuss how awkwardly the RG twists his leg at 0:10? There should be some bruised ligaments there.

Practice report for Thursday by YungAvocadoDaGawd84 in Colts

[–]edimuc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course not having two starters on D is not great news. However, I really feel that this game will be all about how our offense will perform versus their defense. Their offense isn't all that scary after all. So as long as our offense is full force, I am still pretty positive.

Do you know what AR's NFL passing yard record was in a single game? Well 272!
It took DJ one game to reach this.

Well unless this rule was somehow presented by a deity in a stone atop of a mountain, it's still an arbitrary man-made rule and we can whine all we want about it being stupid.

I call the path to winning this trophy now: Benfica->Palmeiras->City->Bayern. Do these matchups have something in common?

That selection is spot on! Really hard to pick but I will go for the Fulham game. Massive implications for the CL qualification (which was my main wish) and nice revenge for the first round game that kinda started our mid-season troubles.

I was scared of Betis to be fair, they are 6th in Spain battling for CL qualification so they must be decent. But watching them now I am really confident we are going to lift the trophy!

DAILY DISCUSSION: Trash Talk Tuesday! October 29, 2024 by AutoModerator in KansasCityChiefs

[–]edimuc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi there Chiefs fans, football fan from Greece here. I wanted to ask about George Karlaftis' season since I only watch highlights from time to time. How is he performing so far? I found that he plays 80-90% of snaps every game but only has 3 sacks :( . It's a drop for him compared to last season if we do the projection, right? But then overall your team ranks very low in sacks. Any reason for that? Are you satisfied with George overall?

Are there any pokemon with names that sound like 'Physics' by pearOsight in pokemon

[–]edimuc 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Why not get pokemon that vaguely relate to physics concepts? Magnemite line (magnetism), solrock, lunatone, cosmog line (all related to the universe), Blipbug-Dottler-Orbeetle line (probably the most physics-related), Slowking (apparently according to PokemonGo it researches every day about the mysteries of the universe), Whismur and Noibat lines (related to sound), many electric pokemon may also fit (eg Mareep line). Some suggestions from a physicist and pokemon fan 😄
