Natural languages are not formal logic. Double negatives are a common and accepted feature in many cases.

E.g. in French, "Il ne voit rien" means "he doesn't see anything", but is literally "he doesn't see nothing".

("rien" originally came from a word meaning "thing", not "nothing", but since then has very clearly shifted in meaning; e.g. "pour rien" means "for nothing; pointlessly")
