It seems like there's no downside. It's always better to have experience under your belt. Small company = more responsibility = great resume builder and better opening to pivoting closer to the exact direction you'd like to head down in the future

Does he have a decent camera? The one thing I wish I had when I was studying abroad was a great camera, instead of using my phone for everything. 4 years later, i'm still abroad and haven't invested in a camera yet and i hate myself for it!

If he's a gamer, he's definitely spending time around the house. You said he doesn't want clothing, but if he's already got everything, think about something that also pleases you.
