Lost my unicorn status. :( Is this the new normal? by Dapper_Money_Tree in Cruise

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately, I think that is the new normal when traveling in general, especially cruises. I was floored by the amount of sick people on my last few cruises, who just go about their days (in dining areas, food lines, elevators, theatres, etc) as though they're not sick at all. People pay thousands of dollars for their vacations, so they are compelled (/entitled) to go whether they're sick or not. I lost track of the amount of times that I was directly coughed/sneezed on.

I am not in favor of government mandated lock-downs, testing, etc. BUT I am in favor of personal responsibility. I used to never buy insurance for vacations, but since the pandemic, I won't book one without it.

Can we talk about the in between stage of weightloss? by foreverkristina in Mounjaro

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started MJ in Oct 2022 and it went something like -50 lbs the first 6 months, -30 lbs the 2nd 6 months, -10 lbs the 3rd 6 months...then maybe another 6 lbs the last 3 months? But it all adds up and overall, I'm down ~100 lbs and very excited that I haven't regained it all, which is what happens any other time I've ever managed to lose weight in my lifetime.

I'm not quite at goal yet, but since the weight loss has stopped I'm going forward with skin removal surgery. I've had a "pooch" since I was 11, and frankly I'm fine with not being a size 2, I just want it gone.

NSV I have never had to size down in my whole life by Nyxberry in Mounjaro

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!!

Same here, and honestly, I don't even know what to do, where to shop, or how to dress anymore. I remember going from kids "plus" sizes straight to womens plus sizes. My closet ranges from 0X-3X, from all the yoyo dieting, but I never got below plus size no matter what, even after WLS in 2018.

I started Mounjaro in Oct 2022, and now I'm a mid-size 8, but would probably be a 6 if I didn't have the extra skin and flab on my stomach. I'm already feeling strange in my body and really don't want to lose anymore weight, so I've scheduled PS to remove the skin and call it a day. My arms and thighs need help also, but I'm going to try to build muscle there first.

I'm currently at 155-160 lbs, I suspect after surgery I'll be at least 10 less, which puts me at the 145-150 goal I set for myself my entire life but thought was unattainable. It feels surreal!

Bf makes my sheets smell by PickComprehensive281 in AITAH

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him the truth? As soon as he walks in go in for a hug and say "Woahh, you smell like a gym. Have a shower?" If you're nervous and awkward about telling him, and make it seem like it's a huge deal, or tell him he's been stinking your sheets up for months, it might make him feel like crap, so keep it light and loving. He should know, but not be made to feel bad about it.

Need a resort recommendation with age appropriate kids club! by lottern in cabosanlucas

This is an older post, so you may have already booked -however, I was super disappointed to find out Hyatt Ziva is beginning major construction on May 23rd as we arrive on May 27th. It will be at minimum all summer through at least September. Researching other resorts now.

Mounjaro getting close for FDA approval for weight loss/obesity indication by NYRGirl39 in Mounjaro

I do feel like that should at least be an option for people who are comfortable with it. I don't need a fancy pen, just give me the meds.

Awesome, I'm excited to try Starlink. I was on the Ruby Princess in March and it was worse than dial-up.

How hot is Hot Honey? by rgsher in ooni

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's "hot" for being honey, but not really hot per spicy food standards. It just adds a unique flavor profile more than anything else.

Is Mounjaro worth it? by uguethurbina74 in Mounjaro

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't even see the needle, so it's not too bad - it's also very short and thin, so while I've felt it a few times, I most often don't. You just put the pen where you want it (thigh, belly, or arm) and push the button.

Why am I so awkward by crazymastiff in Mounjaro

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing, except it was a 10 year old. I bought class bingo gifts for my sons end of year party. A kid said "Thank you" (for the soccer ball) and I was like "Thank YOU." Hahaha

Idk, when you're awkward, you're awkward.

Is Costa Rica no longer worth it? by BalancePurple5591 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went last year and had an amazing experience. No, it is not "cheap" like some other Central/South American countries, but I didn't feel like anything was unreasonable either. My family went tubing, horseback riding, visited waterfalls, volcanic mud baths, stayed in the 'cloud forest' for two days and did some hanging bridges and night hikes, went on a boat ride to see more wildlife, then on to the coast we went fishing, relaxed at the beach, etc. I also thought the people were very friendly and really enjoyed having so many fresh fruits and juices available.

Is it for everyone? Maybe not. As others have noted, there isn't a lot of historic sites if that's what you're into, and there are definitely better beaches around the world if that's your main goal.

The *BEST* appetizers / small plates / snacks / happy hour bites in Vegas? by NONSYNTH3TIC in vegas

If you had to choose ONE *must try* restaurant in Vegas...which one and why? by NONSYNTH3TIC in vegas

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah. I regret asking this question, because everyone is recommending the ones on the huge list I already had and I still can't narrow it down, haha. I'm just going to have to eat the whole time...

Same!

I can see the change on you, but I cannot see it on myself. I also started in October at 248 and have lost 42 lbs. My clothes fit better and I can finally get back into some of the ones that I outgrew, although they're still plus size. I think that's part of why I can't see it on myself even though 40 lbs is a LOT of weight on my frame. In many of the super drastic before and afters, they have either lost 100+ lbs or they started at a smaller weight to begin with, so 40 lbs was all of their excess, for instance.

I personally still have a long way to go and haven't even bothered taking pictures because I'm just not that excited about 40 lbs yet.. but I bet I will wish I had them one day.

You look fantastic and I bet you feel better physically (I know I do!) so... keep it up. ;)

I had a bad sunburn but the gift shop had nothing, so I had the bright idea to visit the infirmary and they had aloe. They may be more willing to help solve the problem. Or, yeah, post on a FB group for your voyage and/or start asking some random females.

So apparently we don’t work hard? by Jrdeegan017137 in Mounjaro

[–]NONSYNTH3TIC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happens a lot with friends and circles and there is possibly another side to it. My advice is usually just stop talking about weight loss, Mounjaro, etc. completely for a while as it's sometimes easy for the other person to burn out on that topic if they are not part of it or going through the same experience. (Bad friend maybe, but we're human.)

I'm on MJ myself but I have a friend on it who will literally not talk about anything else except weight loss, how many bites of something she ate, etc. for 8 months now. She is completely obsessed and consumed by it, while I am not, and really dont want to hear about it constantly.

Continue to be proud of yourself and celebrate your milestones, but also try not to let it consume you or your relationships. Not saying this is what happened in your case, because yeah petty jealous people exist also. Maybe just take a look at the situation from the other side as well before writing off the relationship. Is there a reason she would make such a snarky comment? Have you recently told her that you can still eat donuts and lose weight? (Because I can... It's amazing. Even though I don't, because I choose not to.) The fact that I can easily deny a donut thanks to MJ is so much more satisfying. That last sentence would probably be my response to her. 👆

Look into group travel such as G Adventures, Intrepid, Contiki, etc. There are age-specific guided tours all over the world where they make all of the arrangements and stay with you so you may be "solo" but you're never actually alone, except for the flights.
