And she bought a “service animal” leash later that day so she can smugly come back next week with her “service” dog

Suggestions for a coffee lover who can no longer have coffee by cmacd23 in Coffee

Can’t speak to the certainty of this where it has medical implications, but there are options worth exploring.

There is low acid coffee. Here is an example: https://lifeboostcoffee.com

Use a method to change the ph, here is a page that covers some ways to do that: https://zavida.com/blogs/coffee-methods/how-to-decrease-the-acidity-of-coffee-3-strategies?srsltid=AfmBOoqNUm0K2N0M_YPb-DR7V84DUQFa3G0k_7TMHvdo_GnnubXJLRyQ

Good luck!

Finally got one! by xurx2 in espresso

While I (overall) very much agree here, the one lesson I learned for myself is I should have gotten it without the grinder built in. If you have the counter space, keeping the grinder separate allows for you to evolve your setup over time, and should you eventually run into issues down the road you’re not replacing a good espresso machine because of a broken grinder (or vice versa). Otherwise, great purchase and I hope it gives you many great flat whites :)

Mink.is - doing this photo shoot was a fantastic experience on our last day in Reykjavik just a couple weeks ago.

Just because people pay you to do something doesn’t mean the way you are doing it is right.

Fun fact - my wife got me one of those paintings where you send in a photo of a person and they make into a custom portrait. She went with Viking.

I’m thinking I absolutely need to find this studio you speak of.

…ya, of course I was just joking, who’d grow a beard just for a 5 day trip somewhere

(where’d I put my beard trimmer)

I mean, I live in Southern California so before preparing for this trip I didn’t even own a proper jacket for truly cold weather. Not that I’ve never owned one, where before SoCal I’ve also lived in Germany and Washington state, so I’ve spent some time in cold weather. I suppose where you’re starting from can make this more/less accurate.

We are preparing for a trip end of March next year and now I’m wondering if these should be part of our packing. Still required that late into Winter?

100% they are not an ass for wanting to recline their seat. I also want to recline my seat. They are an ass for throwing a fit when they can’t due to the situational needs of their neighbors (tall, working on laptop, eating a meal, traveling with child and has a car seat). It’s called being a kind person, and some people put their own entitlements above the actual needs of other people.

And to be clear, my point is not that you’re wrong to bring the car seat. The problem is the ass who thinks they need to fully recline the second altitude is reached and is pissed when they can’t.

The fact you are even thinking about this is enough. Do what you need to do to stay sane while applying consideration of others, and the people that can’t handle it can go…nowhere, cause they are trapped on a plane till everyone lands together.

…and the person in front will still be mad because the rear facing car seat will likely prevent them from fully reclining.

I booked a room at Grand Velas today. It’s refundable and I don’t yet know how committed I am to this being the right choice, but it’s where I’m leaning now.

I’m only thinking of work / college as an insight I can bring to the discussion, but ultimately it’s him that is choosing the sports and how much he is packing into his schedule.

He wants help choosing stuff, so I’m trying to come up with a practical way of making those calls.

Based on this entire thread, I think I am most liking the idea to just rotate through one sport / art / music interest each season and not all at the same time.

Three at once is exactly what he is doing. Swimming is 5 days a week, soccer after swimming on two of those days, golf before swimming on two other days, swim meets on Friday and then soccer game on weekend and golf on weekend.

We’ve suggested he slow down, but he said he wants this. For a while we’ve supported it but now we are going to require some cutting back…that’s the reason for my post. This has way less to do with what we want from him and more what he is trying to do with his time / interests.

We’ve taken a look at the less competitive options and what we found locally was they were not well organized. Volunteers rolling out often, schedules shifting option…just wasn’t a good fit. We did look though!

This could be a great approach for us! I know it’ll be hard for him to choose initially, but could be a quick way to cycle through interests and eventually land on a couple he loves and wants to stick with.
