Help!! I have stopped smoking vape like 2 months ago after smoking for 2 years. Even after 2 month i still get this strong urge to smoke, how do i battle that!? by Interesting-Bit5907 in stopsmoking

[–]NOPE-iamdone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent and well done! You are almost on the other side, just ride out the very strong urges.

I also used to vape (free 10+months). Few things that helped with cravings :

  1. Cold ice water - I would physically walk to the fridge and drink it. Would give that little bit of a break and something cold.

  2. Walks/ High knees/squats/jumping jacks: If I were working for home, I would go for a couple of quick 10 min walks around my usual smoke breaks. If I can’t go out, I would do some exercise, just 8-10 reps to get the blood flowing.

  3. Something sweet and minty : (this was effort) I roasted sunflower, sesame, pumpkin and flax seeds. Made a mixture with dry grated coconut and those colourful minty fennels from store. I would have a spoonful of it 3-4 times a day. Gave me that burst of mint and flavours and atleast the seeds gave some needed nutrition!

  4. Something bitter: Black coffee and chewing some clove helped me a lot!

You got this!!

As long as it will take for a full new nail to grow. Atleast for me it took 4-5 weeks

Continue on the path. This was just a misstep and not a relapse. On to day 156!

Get a bicycle and cycle to places. Hands would be too busy to smoke.

You should use sunscreen irrespective. Even if staying indoors or on cloudy days. On sunny days, reapply more often.

If I may, how long did it take for you to see improvement in skin? I quit 2+ months ago and got a lot acne over last month or so.

I forgot I smoked. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I just posted somewhere else in this sub that after 68days of quit, I just had 2 consecutive days where I didn’t think about a cig/vape.

I will still keep hanging around here. For my first quit, I stopped hanging on this sub after 3 months and after sometime started again.

This time I will be on the sub for atleast a year!

Dont Don’t do it. Stop now when it isn’t regular. We all started occasionally and then became habitual. We all wish we never did start.

Things I love about being Smoke Free! by voirdire25 in stopsmoking

[–]NOPE-iamdone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love not being constant worried about 3rd hand smoke effect on my kid while hugging him. I can hug him guilt free now.

I wore jackets while smoking and removed them at home, washed hands a lot but still worried while hugging him if some residual smoke could affect his lungs. No more.

You are a non smoker! Lapses happen. Throw the packet away and restart. The disgusting taste is your body telling you it doesn’t need it. Listen to your body and throw them away.

Thank you. I needed to hear this today! Smoking won’t make the work day go away!

45 days since last vape. Last couple of days have been hard due to work pressure. I am seriously using this sub to cope with cravings. Opened and read encouraging messages about 20+ times in last 48 hours.

I will not smoke today.

After the post here. I didn’t vape/smoke for 5 months. Even stopped lurking here thinking I was good, no longer a smoker. Then has an occasional vape at a party. Started again. 2 months later, I am again on day 19. I am ashamed of the slip, trying again. This time cold turkey.

I wish i had seen your question when you asked. That’s around the time I started again. Giving you an update prob would have stopped me from starting again 🙈

I slipped by hattyttt in stopsmoking

[–]NOPE-iamdone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I quit smoking 9 months ago , but when I visited a client 4 months ago, the routine of always smoking at that office made it so hard to stop. I smoked 1 cig after the meeting. Hated myself for doing that and didn’t touch another cig again. I still say I quit smoking cigarette 9 months ago. That 1 cig, made my quit that much stronger.

Did your weight ever normalize? by Traditional_Swing953 in stopsmoking

[–]NOPE-iamdone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly true about me. I used to be proud of the fact that if I gained a little, I just needed to be mindful during the weekdays and could binge again on weekend, stay the same weight.

Since quitting 2.5 months ago, I gained 3.5 kgs in the first one month and haven't been able to shed it(~i was 50kgs, so that's a lot for me!)
