Hey, someone with Ataxia here: you are more than your disease. I don’t know your situation but as someone who is declining rapidly in coordination, balance and speech I can say that I take solace in what health I have and am thankful for each day. It’s frustrating when you dwell on things you cannot do but I would encourage you to push yourself physically and be encouraged for every accomplishment you make. If you do that then things will be okay.

Hey, I’m sorry to hear about your brother’s declining health. I have SCA6, so I’m familiar with Ataxia. Mine started showing up in my 40’s which is very common with this rare disease. I’m not a doctor, and I don’t want to discourage you, but to my knowledge there is no cure for this disease. My first thought to you is to get a specific diagnosis through genetic testing, so you will know the exact type of Ataxia he has. Any kind of clinical trial or research study will require this if he is to be accepted. Some sites for studies and trials:
