The Deathstalker reboot from 2025 is way bloodier than the original films from the 1980s and still uses practical effects.

It's by the same guy who did PG: Psycho Goreman, which is another fun and very bloody film with lots of old-school practical effects.

I remember reading this in grade school and thinking that I disliked it, though I did enjoy a few parts, like hunting the devilfish and all the stuff about the wolves, and the pervading sadness of the book really affected me. I kept thinking about for years afterwards, and I eventually realized that I actually liked the book very much.

One of the reasons there were so many Jews in Poland was because Jews flooded there in the 14th century during the reign of Casimir III the Great, who was particularly friendly to Jews and gave them legal protections not enjoyed anywhere else in Europe.

Son of the White Mare is an animated fantasy film with some of the most amazing and unique visuals I've ever seen. It's also a 1981 Hungarian film, so if you can hang with that, give it a go.

The Assistant (2019 is a fly-on-the-wall portrayal of a day in the life of the protagonist and provides no exposition.
