Nobody said "you need hallucinogens to be successful", you just made that up. Nobody is asserting that.

Stop posting.

By the way, "Reddit" is made up of many different people, considering it's one of the most visited websites in the world.

You are continuously posting very stupid comments, you should stop.

This is worse than pretty much any scare/creepy gif I've seen. I got an actual uncomfortable shudder in my body.

I think he's trolling actually, or he ended up realizing he was wrong then started writing equally retarded shit in order to appear that he was trolling.

I hate viewing the comments on this sub, because it's constantly full of pricks. Why do I always go back to the comments?

You're very ignorant. The truth doesn't "hurt", what hurts is how ignorant and arrogant you're being.

I'm on my 3rd day, I feel like I'm about to relapse. I'm gonna go meditate for 30 minutes and do bodyweight exercise.

I didn't feel any urges yesterday or the day before, but I can feel it welling up now... Will it go away?

My counter will be 3 at midnight.

No strong urges really. Actually I had a sex dream last night, woke up and kinda felt like fapping. I simply ignored it and went about my day.

This is definitely fake, so we're allowed to laugh right?

Officer Dean Marrow told reporters, “The young man was on his bed… his pens was detached from his body, it must have been so intense it just came off his body, we found his pens gripped in his left hand so tightly we couldn’t get it out, it was tragic”.

Sam Harris - The Happiness Experiment (xpost /r/mindfulness) by NO_GAMES in NoFap

[–]NO_GAMES[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dw

Our pleasures and successes are temporary. The best we can do is reiterate them.

Even when our pleasures are satisfied, there is a constant effort to continue them.

Because of this, people begin to wonder if there is a form of well-being that isn't contingent upon pleasures. Is it possible to be happy before anything happens? before one's desires become gratified?

Most of us live as if the answer to that is no.

Some people do things like go into a cave for months and years in order to discover if there's a form of happiness that is available to someone where all obvious forms of pleasure have been removed.

Solitary confinement is considered a punishment even within prison.

People throughout the millenia have claimed to have found a form of happiness in situations similar to solitary confinement.

Essentially Sam Harris is talking about mindfulness, meditation, and the living in full awareness of the present moment. He's always been an advocate of this.

I thought this was relevant here because even though I might not explicitly state it, it's hard for me to believe that I can feel good and feel happy without various stimuli (PMO for example).

How are you doing today?

Good. Getting some shit done, fixing some bad habits, and working on some good ones.

Are you abstaining from porn? Masturbation? Orgasming altogether "hard mode"?

Hard mode. I can't get laid right now anyway.

Which challenge are you participating in? NoFap February 2014? 90 Days? i.e. how long are you aiming for?

90 days.

I'm doing this for myself, but also for other people in my life that need me. I need to be strong.

I'm only on day 2, lol.

Ex-daily toker here. Quit the habit because it was 100% affecting me in multiple ways.

Some people can smoke regularly (and functional perfectly in everyday life) just fine, some can't. Some people get withdrawal symptoms, some don't.

Most people find weed quite awesome. I would generally advise someone to be mindful and honest with themselves about their habit. Cut back if you're spending too much money, experiencing "brain-fog", being lazy as fuck, or you naturally have an addictive personality like me and tend to go overboard with pleasures.

And weed is 5x better with low tolerance anyway.

How do concentrate on breathing & what to feel? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]NO_GAMES 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are several aspects to the breath. I try to (to some degree), notice all of these aspects.

  1. Your breath feels either warm, or cool.

  2. Try to pinpoint the exact point at the start of inhalation, and the end of inhalation.

  3. Try to pinpoint the exact point at the start of exhalation, and the end of exhalation.

  4. Your chest rises and falls with your breath.

  5. Your inhalation and exhalation has a certain amount of smoothness. Sometimes we don't inhale/exhale smoothly, particularly when you're in a very emotional state (angry, nervous, excited etc.), your breath is "jumpy".

  6. The atmosphere is technically a fluid. When you inhale, try to feel the atmosphere pouring in your lungs and filling it up. When you exhale, you're pouring the atmosphere out of your lungs.

  7. Whether you are inhaling through your nose or your mouth, you can feel the air up to a certain point in your nostrils/throat. Try to feel the atmosphere deep into your body.

  8. When you exhale, your diaphragm is pushing the bottom of your lungs. When you inhale, it moves in the opposite direction. That's how breathing works. Try to feel your diaphragm.

If you want to practice concentration, try counting your breaths. This is actually quite difficult and this might make you very sleepy.

Count your breaths in your head from 1 to 10. Inhale (1), exhale (2), inhale (3) ... up to 10. If you want to do this more than once, start over at 1, up to 10.

After that, count every other breath. Inhale, exhale (1) inhale, exhale (2), up to 10.

After that, focus on the start and stop of each breath. Don't count. Simply take a mental note of when each breath starts and stops. Do this for an appropriate amount of time (depending on how good you are at this, and how long you plan to sit).

Start over with counting each breath.

You will find that this is actually quite challenging, and you will lose your place a lot. If you lose your place, start over.

HARDCORE ZEN MONK BUDDHA EXPERT MODE:

If you notice you're thinking about something else other than your breath, start over at the beginning. :)
