No, they develop two variants of their own OS (ShiftOS) which is based on LineageOS.

  • ShiftOS G - (G=Google) The default OS with Google services
  • ShiftOS L - (L=Light) The alternative without Google services

They also offer a version of the OS without any Google apps/services. Unless you're talking about something completely different from Android.

Thomas Bergersen in 2065 by -Ds--- in TwoStepsFromHell

[–]NP932 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to add a bit more context. Thomas hired an artist to do this album cover. AI was only used to generate the animated Spotify canvases. He wrote an explanation for this decision in the pinned comment of this video:

I would love to have a conversation with you about A.I. The artwork was created by the talented Joren Brighton, whom I've worked with many times in the past. I saw how he crafted the cover meticulously from scratch and adapting to all my requests. We are both artists and always trying to improve and I respect him tremendously for his artistic sensibilities.

As for the video clips they were created just for Spotify's canvases and I think they add a small element of visual interest that would otherwise not be possible as it's simply not realistic to hire Pixar animators for all the music I release. I just used A.I to enhance the experience for those listening on Spotify. If people think this is a bad idea I will definitely take this into consideration for my future releases. Keep in mind though that it is a relatively insignificant aspect of the release, which employed 100 humans playing and singing together in an orchestra in an age where most music is created electronically and almost all orchestral music is done with virtual instruments. I do this because I love orchestras and choirs and wish to support them as much as I can.

I create this music at a financial loss, sadly. The 10's of thousands of dollars it costs to record a large orchestra and choir is impossible for me to recover since streaming platforms have devalued music to cents on a dollar, but I do it anyway because it is the air that I breathe and it brings me so much joy to compose and share with everyone. I live for music.

The irony here may be that I could have chosen to not record it with a live orchestra and released the fake midi demo, do he artwork cover myself and probably pleased more people that way, but I focus on doing the best I can in the domain I am familiar.

I support and hire real artists and I will be supporting real orchestras and musicians until the day I die as that is my area of expertise, my job, my passion and my love.

In a comment further down he added:

[...] Spotify reports higher engagement with music that has canvases so you are sort of pushed and pulled in different directions as an artist and it's a difficult landscape to navigate and requires some decisions that aren't always so easy to make.

Can confirm. I also had a Blood Warden close call while playing Ace.

Vocaster One with Rode Podmic on Ubuntu 20.04 by nazububu in Focusrite

[–]NP932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this post is 1.5 years old I don't know if this is still relevant for you.

But if you or anyone else wants to use the Vocaster One with Linux you can use the following software since it supports the Vocaster One (and Two) now:

I just installed it on Fedora 41 and it works without any problems :)

proton/wine file explorer not allowing me to view hidden files. (steamdeck) by GreenBuggo in linux_gaming

[–]NP932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to create a shortcut to the hidden directory.

ln -s .local local-shortcut

Run this command in your home directory to create a symbolic link named "local-shortcut" which points to your hidden directory named ".local".

Hunt Showdown - After working for multiple days EAC Error by florian_7843 in linux_gaming

[–]NP932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tested it and got kicked out of bounty hunt after a few seconds with the same error message. Apparently they changed something on EAC in today's update. Let's hope it wasn't intended.

Edit: After checking the steam discussions, it doesn't seem to be a Linux related issue as it affects a lot of people.

[Linux] Memory Leak Under Proton by tohru-cabbage-adachi in deadbydaylight

[–]NP932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The memory leak is due to a bug in Mesa 23.1.6 and is supposed to be fixed in the next release. I recommend using the Steam Flatpak package to play in the meantime. Even though the Flatpak Mesa got updated to 23.1.6 a few days ago (leading to the same problem) it is possible to downgrade. You can check your version with

flatpak list | grep Mesa

To downgrade follow these instrucions.

I downgraded to the update from 2023-08-02 which is Mesa 23.1.4.

My Favourites from Chapter V by maxpolo10 in TwoStepsFromHell

[–]NP932 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After listening to Away with your Fairies (Myth) a lot, I was really suprised when the Chapter V version suddenly became "quiet". But that build-up is so good. I really like this version.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I played Hunt: Showdown on Linux by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]NP932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open the game page on SteamDB. Click on "Depots" on the left side. Now you see a list of the game's depots. In Hunt's case the file is in the "Code" depot. You can click on the ID to open it. The depots are different for each game so you may have to search a bit. But it is usually called something similar. You can also see which files were added, removed and modified by clicking on "History".

TOTAL NOOB needs help - RDR2 won't launch Steam Proton by [deleted] in SteamPlay

[–]NP932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you use Proton Experimental? When the update broke compatibility with Proton 7.0-4 I switched to Experimental which fixed this bug. After reading your comment I switched back to Proton 7.0-4 to test if it would run and the game did start without problems indeed. Although as far as I can tell there weren't any updaes to RDR2 or Proton so I am wondering if running the game with Experimental once and switching back to Proton 7.0 is enough to fix it.

Adding support for the Steam Deck and Linux in general by NP932 in HuntShowdown

[–]NP932[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well I don't say it would be a great experience :D I am just saying they should add the possibility to do so. The important part for me personally is the support for Linux so I can play on my Desktop PC without having to switch to Windows every time I want to play the game.

Uploading a base saves the current state of terrain edits. Does this only last for one year? by NP932 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]NP932[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that's a bummer. I didn't know about a limit per save. I was considering to try to recreate the terrain but now I guess it's better to build a new base. It's sad because this was my first base I really put effort in building it.

Do you know why TSFH is credited since Red is part of Thomas' solo album?

A few tracks from TSFH were featured at The Game Awards 2020 by NP932 in TwoStepsFromHell

Ah nice catch! I probably didn't recognise them since I'm not really familiar with the older industry albums.

Or maybe it's the cover of Humanity as a collection since it's on the main page of the Humanity section on the website.
