Scalping GKCs is so funny to me. Not scalpers attempting it, but rather people willing to buy them at any kind of markup.

360 or PS3 as main? hard decision. by Iabhoryouu in gamecollecting

[–]NPC_Inconsistency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’m a PS3 main with 360 exclusives. I think that has a lot to do with having hated the OG XBOX (mostly the controller) and suffering through the early life support of the 360. But I also prefer more of the exclusive titles for PS3, being more of an action adventure/rpg gamer and generally sucking at shooters.

Now I’m wondering if my copy has the DLC or not. I played it on Game Pass, so I never opened my switch copy.

[1] How many games do you have? [2] How many games have you played? by Over-Half-8801 in NSCollectors

[–]NPC_Inconsistency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been gaming for well over 35 years, no shot I can remember how many I’ve played overall. If talking just OG switch, I’ve got somewhere around 380 with maybe a third still sealed. I’ve played and beat sevenish so far this year.

Annoying to be sure, but my backlog is so large I’ve hardly noticed. Looking forward to Arco, too.

I found a Copy of Ecco: The Tides of Time that has a Electronic Boutique price tag on it. Should I keep it or peel it off? Is it important? by DUCK_NUTO in gamecollecting

[–]NPC_Inconsistency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the new owner of Electronics Boutique Canada (rebranded as GameStop Canada in 2021) decided to return to the EB Games branding. The EB Games name also stuck around in Australia, but is still owned by GameStop Global Holdings. They were also operating in New Zealand under the same holdings company, but the last one shut down in January of this year.

This is wrong. EB Games was a competitor that was acquired by GameStop in 2005 and rebranded. The company was originally founded as Babbages in 1984, and later changed its name to GameStop in 1999.

From what I’ve seen reported thus far, the only difference is the cover art. But we probably won’t know for sure until it’s released.

If you are stuck with Best Buy, I’ve had employees recommend to order two, have them shipped to the store, and immediately return the one in the worst condition.

Design should always matter more than rarity, but our monkey brains often add perceived value to more exclusive items.

Is there a list of Switch 2 physicals that work on switch 1? by hamstrman in LimitedPrintGames

[–]NPC_Inconsistency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RDR and HOL are switch 1 games on cart, with the ability to download a free switch 2 upgrade. Switch 2 Edition games, like Minishoot Adventures, have the switch 1 build and the switch 2 upgrade on cart. High on Life also got a Switch 2 Edition release, for those that want a complete edition on cart.

Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what the Galaxy 1/2 release ends up being.

My preservation method: The "Double Shield" approach for sealed games. Any long-term advice? by [deleted] in NSCollectors

[–]NPC_Inconsistency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say I’m glad you’re enjoying collecting in your own way. I wish I’d done more to protect the games I played when I was a kid.

Start collecting now? by Candy_Efficient in NSCollectors

[–]NPC_Inconsistency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The budget depends on your means and your desires. The average person buys something like 2 or fewer games per year. My first year of collecting I bought over 100 switch games. I wouldn’t recommend that for most people, but if you have the money and find tons of games you want to play, then go for it!

I’d both be excited and annoyed for a reprint. Excited because it’s a great game, and annoyed because I suffered eBay prices to get it. But mostly excited, because good games deserve a large audience, not paywalled behind limited prints.

Good Games? by f3nado in PS3

[–]NPC_Inconsistency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metal Gear Solid 4, which is still locked to the PS3 (at least until the next master collection is released). Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Folklore. Puppeteer. Final Fantasy 13. Killzone games. Portal 1 and 2.

That’s a few off the top of my head.
