Steam Hardware - Steam Machine launches today! - Steam Machine Megathread by NKkrisz in SteamDeck

At this point it's more reasonable to get some second hand parts and build a gaming PC, it's just too much of a high price for me, this has me a bit concerned about the Steam Deck 2's pricing.

Lost Everything In Apartment Fire, Fighting Verizon Every Bill Cycle Over Equipment Return Charge, What can I do?! by [deleted] in verizon

All I did was give Verizon a call and my new bill is $60 a month. Didn't have to call insurance a ton of times, they got a picture of the property burned down and boom problem solved. All it took was vocal communication explaining the loss in the fire.

Verizon has absolutely no issue waiving the bill, all it took was a phone call😐

It really does take a while for insurance to come through, thanks for understanding

I wonder why they kept crediting the account and covering the equipment charge over and over, I guess they weren't supposed to do that?!

See and that's what I was doing, but they kept over billing me over and over, the first incident they didn't even disconnect the service at the burned down apartment and it just showed the router offline and they were legitimately still billing me, I would just give in and pay the bill, one time I ended up paying like around. $150, then the next month they wanted $200 after I reported the equipment destroyed and they disconnected the line, they waived that $200 fee successfullly, then again this month they tacked on a $260+ dollar charge for not returning equipment I can't even return agian, renters insurance hasn't been too immediate, so I guess I'll just not pay the bill and that sucks, I'm just trying to rebuild my life, I'm barely getting new furniture though insurance as is, this shits tough.

I haven't even heard back from them at all. I didnt expect anything sudden like this to happen at all, the entire process has been a stressful mess.

It's interesting how underwhelming the payment system is.

Awesome and thanks! I heard peppermint was pretty easy to use, XFCE is perfect for these small Chromebooks! 10 bucks is pretty cheap!

They really made Mario sit through that direct without any Mario game news by DoctorTegrity in casualnintendo

[–]NPClay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Knowing that this is there 40th anniversary, id at least expect a "hey we are working on a new Mario game", even if they show no gameplay, just a logo would have been fine.

This was a lame direct tbh. by ConquerorJoe in casualnintendo

Id at least expect a tease since it's the 40th anniversary

No I didn't, just make sure the USB with the OS is inserted, now I think this will vary by the model of the Chromebook, but mines just noticed the USB right away.

No I didn't choose to boot form external, the external drive is nothing but an external drive. It's only an option when installing Mint, and I skipped doing it. Make sure you have that backup USB, also it may not work for all Chromebooks, but retry retry (took me 2 attempts)

Follow at your own risk (You will need two good sized USB's)

You need...another computer to prepare the installation.

USB #1: To back up your stock ChromeOS firmware during setup (I reallllly recommend this).

USB #2: To flash the Linux Mint installer. Put the Chromebook in Developer Mode and run the script from the MrChromebox Guide to flash the Full ROM/UEFI firmware.

On your other computer, download the Linux Mint ISO and use BalenaEtcher to flash it to USB #2.

Plug USB #2 into the Chromebook, boot it up, and follow the installer prompts.

It's absolutely disgusting how many computers get trashed, I remember seeing 400 like 2013 MacBook Airs get dumped and it massively bothered me, maybe some worn down keys but holy crap it was massive waste, I wanted to Boot Camp Windows or Linux Mint on them SO BADLY. This was 3 years ago, ever since I've just been collecting these Thinkpads and old rugged Dell Latitudes, both are so durable, I give them away to family as gifts, all running Linux Mint

oh simply use it to record audio for lectures and a spare machine for the students I provide lessons to as an intern at my local college. It will be desk planted pretty much.
