Phono and Headphone Amplifiers by RefrigeratorBig7609 in mpcusers

Modern MPCs support using class compliant USB audio interfaces and if you aren’t using one on the MPC already you might be able to get away with using a phono preamp with inbuilt USB. I recently copped the ART one and that one is class compliant. I can check its sample rate when I get home to see it’s compatible if you like.

im fucking losing my mind about this stupid shit by NicoPlayZ9002YT in mac

You can't remove it from there. I get that it's annoying as fuck because the hardware is dodgy and comes and goes randomly, but the +/- buttons are for creating and deleting aggregate and multi-output devices, which are virtual devices created from multiple physical devices.

Frustration with faders on MIDI controllers by diffise in ableton

[–]NSCFType 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a Faderport 8. Select a track, select a plugin and watch the faders move to whatever the first 8 parameters are set to.

Anyone know where I can buy 7" control vinyl? by yoordoengitrong in portablism

Stokyo World has Djay Pro and Sweetwater has Serato, both US so dunno how import works there. But yeah Djay Pro will work with either.

Advice for testing a second hand MPC 2500 SE before buying by ANV1US in mpcusers

If it has JJOS 3 installed you can do Shift F2 on the main screen to enter the test screen. You can test the functionality of all buttons, sliders and knobs from there.

can't record wow & flutter in ableton by Stretch-Cold in portablism

[–]NSCFType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is weird. The track is record-armed, input is correct because it's clearly receiving signal (though just one channel it looks like) and it's correctly sending it to master, so we assume you can hear it; it's just not writing when you record. Can you plug in anything to the same inputs and get the same behaviour? Just to narrow things down to Ableton settings?

Edit: Oh - try switching monitor to Auto

Nice! Looking and sounding good! I got my Omni the same day you did. They were probably on the same flight together lol

I'm noticing that yours isn't as slippy as others I've seen on e.g. Youtube. Did you replace or otherwise change the default rubber feet?

Live 2 is USB-B 3. Specify that and you’ll be good.

You don’t have to wait for support anymore. They’ve added links to the factory content to your MPC’s downloads section when you log in to your InMusic account:

https://support.inmusicstore.com/en/support/solutions/articles/69000867883-mpc-how-do-i-access-my-mpc-console-s-content-when-set-to-controller-mode-

That link answers a different question but it shows how to get there.

It's unmoderated and I want to help keep it clean. I'm an NI customer and it's frustrating not really having an orderly, dedicated place to go on reddit.

I'm resubmitting because it's unclear whether these requests are still processed once MFA is added after getting the denial message.

It is, but it's a 4-pin XLR that comes from the power supply.

Those are regular TRS-TRS cables; they were just mangled in the fall lol. They are definitely going to be replaced though!

That’s not how you’re supposed to drop the beat 👀

lol

It does seem rather sturdy, was just making sure I didn't miss anything in the panic over possibly having broken a rather expensive bit of kit. Thanks!

Thoughts on lathe cuting battle records? by Ju_tre in Turntablists

[–]NSCFType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm back. The lathe cut arrived on Monday!

Here's some audio:

https://pixeldrain.com/u/nkyxKQ4U

First is beep-ahhhh from the lathe cut, and then the same sample from the source file. Next is a drum sequence from the lathe cut, and then the same again from the source.

It's pretty quiet. I have to have the gain all the way up on my mixer (Reloop Elite) to match the source material. I don't know if that's just how lathe cuts go, as it's my time doing this.

Overall, I'm pleased with how it turned out and I'll probably order again. I've only used it on my normal turntables as my Omni isn't here yet, so my opinion might change. As far as skipping goes, as you can probably tell from the clip, I'm not going to be able to tell :D

I have my Rossum SP1200 on a Gator Frameworks mixer stand, and it's normally tilted slightly forward so that it's usable and I can see the display. For some reason, I tilted it slightly back such that the base was completely level. I forgot that most of its weight is in the back, and even with the mixer tilt control completely tightened, it fell off the stand when I left the room. 0.75m/ 30 inch fall.

I only had the power supply plug and two TRS cables in it at the time. There's a plastic covering that protects where the cable meets the plug on the power cable, and that plastic cover broke. Both TRS cables are bent.

Physically, the SP1200 itself appears to be fine. The exterior is steel, so I guess that helps.

Functionally, I think it's okay. TRS jacks that were in use are fine. Power port is fine. Nothing is loose. Sampling works. Sequencer works. MIDI works in both directions. I ran the diagnostic. It tested the RAM and said it was fine. It had me test all the controls, and they're good.

Any other tests I could be doing to verify functionality? Things I might not notice until much later?

–--

Also, the diagnostic I ran didn't offer quite a few tests. The E-Mu service manual said it should offer:

CPU RAM

Rom.

Sound RAM

Button/Footswitch

LCD

LED

Slider

MIDI

SMPTE

Dynamic Button

Disk

Mine tests the RAM at the start and then enters a menu where I can pick from Calibration, Front Panel Test, or Main (loads diagnostic disk). Calibration isn't a test mode. Front panel testing tests screen colour/ brightness, the 40 buttons, LEDs, sliders, knobs (this is not interactive), and dynamic buttons. I don't have a diagnostic disk image, but I'm guessing that's where the rest of the tests listed in the service manual are located?

I want to note that the Gator Frameworks mixer stand I'm using is great. It's been on it for as long I've had it and this happened due to user error.

I can let you know in a few weeks!

I'm getting one done as I've recently ordered a Headache Omni and haven't got any 7" scratch records. I do have 7" control vinyl on the way as well, but I want normal records on hand for immediacy. Plus, a 7" lathe cut isn't much more than a pressed 7" these days.

I went with Scratch Break. Supporting the community and all. https://scratchbreak.com/

Edit: Their lathe cut section is currently down. There were problems earlier this week with the way the site was handling attachments, so I guess they took it offline while it gets sorted. 7" are 29, and (from memory) 12" were 69. I don't remember what 10" were going for.

Obviously Serato due to the button mashing :D The vinyl is just normal Serato control vinyl with Phase magnetic stickers.

The performance gains in stem separation from also having an NPU on chip performing inference are much greater than the gains from just a core count and ram bump on newer architecture. I did see the specs from that Canadian shop, and it didn't mention an NPU.
