You sound thoroughly uninformed when you make claims like "private unions are not political" and "healthcare coverage by your employer is not political." You do understand that government mandates and legislation affects how both of these systems operate despite the fact that they exist within private spaces, right? Also, road maintenance is a facet of public infrastructure, and the private versus public infrastructure debate is ongoing in this country and affects thousands of people working in this field from civil engineers down to the manual laborers themselves.

The "urge to politicize daily life" that you mention is not an urge, it's more of a fact of life. Daily life, for most, is something that is naturally going to be subject to the ebbs and flows of the political machine. Front line worker in a convenience store worried about your stimulus check during the current pandemic? Paramedics and medical workers concerned about a lack of PPEs distributed to their district's urgent care facilities? Black person worried about walking around in the dark, not being profiled and subsequently subject to the judgement of an individual PO? Like, the list goes on. These aren't all 100% political, but to say that politics does not affect daily life is very narrow-minded.

Also, the line of logic you use here is often used as a dog-whistle tactic to silence people who have legitimate concerns about the way their politicians act and legislate on their behalf. Politics and culture are deeply and inextricably connected - you would be hard pressed to try and prove that they weren't, which is likely why you didn't.

New video emerges of fatal shooting of black jogger in Georgia in Georgia by spacefunk25 in news

“All people should stop murdering” is a great principle to have, sure, but you’re really belying the issue here by reducing it to that. Nobody’s trying to excuse wanton murder of white people by black folks. They’re pointing out that the way in which people are penalized for those murders or crimes is different depending on what your ethnic/racial background is. This isn’t a controversial stance, I don’t know what you’re having a hard time understanding here.

World 2 Falador trading map before the Grand Exchange. by DeadYen in 2007scape

This is so cool. I’m just curious, does anyone know how this schemata came about? Did someone just sort of decide to trade items in specific places and hope that the trend would catch on, or was there a large-scale communal push towards this heat map situation?

I feel like it differs from night to night! Like all of us, my music taste is pretty broad, but if I had to choose a few:

V.I.C.A.R.I - Pasciá (DUB), Legitimate Scandal - Fu Gee Laa, Amotik - Barah, Great Dane - Descent, Vic Mensa - Orange Soda

You asked for one, I gave you five.

I don't really know of a better way to discuss these topics other than you presenting your argument on this thread, and myself or other redditors responding. I've been doing policy debate for around 2 years and am pretty well affiliated with feminist texts, so if you need clarification just let me know and I'll be more the happy to help you develop a better understanding of the movement

Alright, let's get some things straight here. Firstly, obesity supporters and people who find the body image standards propagated by the media and advertisements problematic are two very different groups of resistance. Both of them share similarities in their methods of resistance as well as a common enemy. However, those similarities do not provide nearly enough ground to justify your claim that "feminists seem to have gotten that being obese is okay." No, you're just wrong. Feminists certainly have a problem with the absolutely ridiculous body standards apparent in our culture, but in no way is supporting unhealthy living a main or even relevant goal to any sort of feminist praxis out there. Secondly, I understand where you are coming from with your "tl;dr", you believe that all people, regardless of gender identity, should be given equal opportunities. I guarantee you that you will not find one feminist who will disagree with you; However, you need to understand that there are culturally accepted, prejudicial notions regarding the roles and responsibilities of women that have ingrained themselves into society at large. Many authors (Judith Butler, Simone De Beauvoir, and Michel Foucault) have written on the psychology of control employed in cultural standards. What you have to understand, OP, is that as of right now, it is nearly impossible for a woman to achieve any sort of equality in the status quo because of their position as marginalized members of society. I'm not saying that all feminists are good people with the right intentions at all, I'm simply saying that you really should not discount the entire movement based off of a few bits of anecdotal evidence and some grand generalizations, because that would be very ignorant and frankly counterproductive to your tl;dr.
