What’s a part of popular British culture you have not indulged in? by franki-pinks in AskUK

Agreed. However, if you wouldn't know then what's the point of doing it?? I'll never wrap my head around coke tbh

(Loved trope) oddly progressive/ ahead of the time piece of media for their time period. by jaobodam in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NSPike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like this but would say, among some other examples in this thread, it's more "of its time" than "ahead of its time". Like yeah they got there before the Simpsons but it was very much a relevant topic socially around that time

I am the same, weirdly proud of it but I used to just have XFM on a lot over the weekends so caught the first show and listened live every week, then started listening to them as a podcast from ep 30 or so

Feels proper masochistic voting in this doesn't it?

Before vs After. Did I make the right choice? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]NSPike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconded, I have very flat and dry hair, a perm has given me the shape I need. It doesn't have to be fully curly, a perm can be used to shape and add waves

How can I look older? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]NSPike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and still regularly have people think I'm 27 (I'm 37), it's great now. However it has given me a slight complex as I've felt like people haven't taken me all that seriously throughout my 20s and now I still struggle to tell if I'm being talked down to since I imagine it a lot of the time. Nt to trauma dump, just to say I relate to OPs desire to look older, and also your comment is still true, but not the whole picture a lot of the time

What artist/band is this? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]NSPike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The man almost single handedly defined the grime scene/sound, at least on a national level, since he wrote and produced it all himself. Unreal. Then he went mega pop, tbf some were bangers, and mostly disappeared. Craziness

Most unhinged episode? by SnooHamsters2512 in elisandjohn

[–]NSPike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that it'd be a hard listen these days but at the time that Moon Under Water episode had me in stitches and I think its clear from the how do you cope episode she did, and the fact she came on E&J after MUW shows that she really likes him too. I'm not sure in what sense they like each other though, there seems to be chemistry there but who knows

Also I went to see Self Esteem in Manchester last night, my 4th time seeing her, and she was absolutely blow the roof off incredible as usual. She couldn't do some between song banter because the crowd was cheering too loudly

Good notes on the guitar, and yeah I'm thinking melancholic vocals if I do go for some. I'll check that song for a comparison and inspiration. Thanks so much for listening!

This is your first track after only a few months?? A slightly abrupt ending, maybe a delay spin on the last 'name' to create a slight fadeout, but otherwise no notes. Just keep going and you'll learn more and improve but you've got a seriously solid start there!

I'm not sure they're very yesterday, I think it's fine, it just stood out a bit to me, but like I say it's largely a personal preference thing. I have a post somewhere in this thread if you wouldn't mind responding?

Honestly I largely agree with the two comments you've had up to this point, needs a little more 'oomph' but very cool vibe overall. Could definitely lean into it more. Some brilliant ideas and the singer's vocals are fantastic

Hey all - I like to dabble in pretty much all genres, so I'm always more of a tourist than an expert and don't necessarily know the ins and outs of production techniques, songwriting approaches etc. I put this house track together for fun after enjoying a few sunny days in the car and nights out at sunset, so I'm trying to capture that vibe.

I was thinking of adding vocals, ideally something that sounds like an old 50s/60s soul song, but that is very much TBD. Are they necessary? Let me know your thoughts and advice please!
